Khator would smack down the Briles idea so fast it would make Tilman crap a Golden Nugget.

I go for Briles and Miles because this wil be their last stop. Their age will prevent them from moving on. This country is 2nd chance, he should get a 2nd chance. Les got a raw deal (look at his coaching record). Very few team are going to beat Bama which is why Les got let go, they are like UK and somewhat Duke of basketball, minor league of football. Bama roster is so packed that they have a lot of transfers which is why a lot of SEC coaches won't survive. I can' believe the Applewhite has a lot of support for the next UH coach, deep down he bleeds orange and white.

Hiring Briles would be a disaster.

Briles should get a second chance, but it shouldn't be at UH. He needs to go to a program like HBU or Texas State and build the trust back up. Do it for love again and not for the money or prestige, he has demonstrated that he can't handle it.

"how much he didn't know" is an interesting way to phrase that.

I would be really upset if Briles was named the next head coach. In reality TF didn't say they were going to hire him. What I found more interesting is TF mentioned Les Miles and appears hell bent on getting UH into a major conference.

Sounds like a cover up is coming. Get ready for>>> "We talked to everyone involved and we found that Art did nothing wrong and knew nothing about what was going on with those Student Athletes that......etc.....etc..."

Sound like UH is desperate for even looking at Briles. If it's such a attractive job, you have much better choices. Don't choose a candidate with questionable background. Or that may put UH program in a bad light.

    TF:

“There are people that we are zeroing in on."

Hope is to get new football coach hired 'absolutely as soon as possible.' Could be by next week

He has made it clear there will be huge buyout first few years for new Houston coach. 'If you want a cheap buyout then don't come apply the first couple years.' 'There are too many coaches that want this job. I'm not going to have a coaching change again after next year or the year after'

On Les Miles: “I think we have interest in him & he has interest in us. He’s on the list.”

On ex Baylor coach Art Briles: 'Until we can get clarity I don't know if we can go there.' 'There still seems to be a clarity problem.'

So are we "seeking clarity" about Briles or not, Tilman?

That was a polite way of saying "He's a good coach, but too much baggage." They aren't interested.

It's a very hamfisted way of saying that, IMO.

It leaves the door far too ajar for speculation on such a radioactive subject.

I'm not a fan of the Les Miles idea personally.

Didn't read it that way at all. Sounds like he would be interested if he hears the right things. Any meeting with the Baylor regents would be a big step IMO, they're not going to say a single bad thing about Art.

There is simply no way that meeting will take place. There's nothing in it for Baylor and a possible huge downside for them.

I'm now thinking Mark Helfrich since Oregon let him go. 1 losing season in 8 seasons, creative Offensive Mind(took over from Chip Kelly).
If not Helfrich, then Charlie Strong, then Les miles in that order

I can't get excited about guys who couldn't get offenses moving at big schools.

That is why I'm against Miles, and why I'm hesitant about Orlando.

The truth is that at Houston you have to do more than just win. You have to win sexy.

There's too much competition for your entertainment and sports dollar.
