I can see this also.... "Oh..y'all wanna give me THIS clown? Cool....Immo make you live with that isht and deal with the fire and pitchfork fans coming soon in your direction" Though, I think his hands are tied and he HAS to run with Asswieler until he gets the go ahead to demote him to 5th string... But to your point, it's an easy out to say (in private), "hey, I'm a loyal guy and a company man that doesn't throw his senior reports under the bus" when he's interviewing for his next gig.
Wow. You guys really drank that Koolaid during Hard Knocks. Nothing about what the coach is saying says he is being forced to keep playing Brock. One of the keys to being a good quarterback is being accurate," O'Brien said. "We work on accuracy with all of our quarterbacks all the time. I think that's a key. I think Brock will be the first one to tell you. "I think there's been many times where he's been accurate, and there's been other times where he hasn't been as accurate as he needs to be. He's working very hard to improve his accuracy all the time." “I thought against Oakland that we took a step forward in the passing game and the routes were being run very well, the protection was good for the most part,” Texans Head Coach Bill O’Brien said Wednesday. “(Osweiler) was able to deliver the ball on time with accuracy, so I think it all works together.” “Obviously, the head coach and the quarterback take the most criticism when you lose, that’s the nature of the business and we all understand that -- but there are 11 guys on the field,” O’Brien said. “There’s an offensive line, there’s running backs, there’s receivers, there’s tight ends. He's even making excuses for him.
Yes Another year of this and his offensive reputation will be completely destroyed if it hasn't already
How are you the offensive specialist and the defense has carried the team all three years you've been here. smh Yeah, it's the GMs fault.
Here's Kubiak's by comparision: 2013: 17.2 2012: 26 2011: 23.8 2010: 24.4 2009: 24.2 2008: 22.9 2007: 23.7 2006: 16.7 (David Carr)
So is Kubiak better than BOB? Or is Schaub, Johnson, Foster, Myers, Brown better than Osweiler, Hopkins, Miller, Mancz, Brown (older)? Or both lol.
He was not "basically a rookie head coach" - he was coming off two consecutive winning seasons and a division championship. And his tenure here is tied directly to the QB; there is no way BOB would allow himself to be sidelined over a decision that would literally determine his continued employment. Did McNair mandate they acquire a QB? Almost certainly. But this idea that BOB was out of the loop and told after the fact... I mean, in addition to there being evidence to the contrary, doesn't make sense practically. BOB would've left, and with his resume, would have had a job almost instantly. There's no way he would've been passive about this - it's his job ob the line.
Agree with this. I don't think there's any way he was left totally out of the equation. No NFL team would operate like that - not even the Texans (I felt the need to add that qualifier...). I do wonder if he voiced concerns but was out-voted 2 to 1, though. Who knows....maybe he was all in and all 3 of them were just wrong. Maybe he's leaving him in there because of all the criticism he took last year for constantly switching QBs in and out. I still maintain that there's something different about his demeanor this year. Can't really put my finger on it, though....
He's been here three years; in his first two years, he signed two veteran QBs and traded for another; he drafted only one, a project with a limited college resume and almost zero chance of being an immediate contributor. And he passed on viable, highly-rated QBs in two drafts, including one in which he held the first pick of every round. This offseason, he signed another veteran; did not draft a QB. I think it's pretty clear he has a type... Osweiler might not have been his dream QB - but I find it hard to believe he didn't think he could mold and shape him. I find it harder to believe he would have accepted being outvoted and handed a QB against his will. Again, he wasn't necessarily operating from a position of weakness; he won 18 games and a division by coaxing career-best performances out of mediocre QBs, as well as by winning games with sub-standard QBs. McNair and Smith would have been FOOLS to not only seek but value his input.
i wish we got to see brock play in the super bowl. i really think he could've blown that game for denver.
There's a reason he was benched for a Peyton Manning too old and injured he couldn't even throw 10 yards
You act as if having Hoyer, Fitz, and Osweiler doesn't factor in to how well the offense performs. Like any decent offensive coach should have a top 10 offense regardless of who's playing QB. This despite Hoyer and Fitz arguably having their best seasons under OB.
