I have you on ignore...just took it off for a moment and noticed this. No, saying I don't necessarily disagree does not mean I agree completely with his statement. The part I agree with is "taking away rights". Where I would potentially disagree is that burning a flag should be considered "protected free speech"....in other words a "right". I do understand the Supreme Court has ruled on this already. I just don't know that I agree with them on this one. I understand that reasonable minds can disagree on this one though.
Would have been a decent talking point 3-4 weeks ago, before Election Day, but now, that is irrelevant. TRUMP'S policies and his positions are what matters. Why don't you speak on it?
See I don't understand this logic. It's Trump voters that got the man in office. Not liberals. Hillary lost and there were potentially better candidates out there but that shouldn't cause the blame to be dumped on them because Trump was elected. The whole GOP could have voted someone else in during their primaries but couldn't get a better leader than Trump. Now you're saying any policy passed by Trump is the liberals fault when again it's the GOP that is backing him and voted him into office. Blame conservatives for this mess.
It doesn't punish vets. It perhaps offends them. That's very different. That bill proposed to punish people for burning a flag to intimidate or threaten people. It was still a dumb bill because threatening people is already illegal. But, it was not a simple flag-burning bill.
Semantics. The result of flag burning only effects negatively those that protected their rights to do so. Its not just offensive to those folks, its counterproductive to real dialogue and hurts whatever cause they fight for. But nobody ever claimed flag burners were the brightest people.
Any thoughts on veterans burning the American flag? Not every veteran cares about an inanimate object with colored stitching that looks like the American flag.
