Hillary is irrelevant now, why are you still bringing her up? Talk about your boy Trump (the president elect) wanting to infringe on a basic right.
Pretty cool. Notice only one of them went full fascist and suggested revoking citizenship. Also, there's this:
People on the Right seem to think that people on the Left have the same mindset as them--you must support everything put forth by the leaders on "your side". I can think of no symbolic gesture more American than burning the flag. Shame on anyone who opposes that right.
Which is why I still remain a #NeverTrump supporter. If only the Democrats had nominated a halfway competent candidate, we wouldn't be having to deal with a President Trump. Blame them.
I support the right, but question the action. How does burning the very symbol of your right to burn a symbol make sense? particularly when most of those (outside the U.S.) who burn the flag do so as a indication of how much they hate America. So, burning the flag is symbolic of hating America. Do people have the right to hate America? Sure...but if you hate where you live, why do you live there?
For shock value, because without it nobody listens to the lunatic ravings. Essentially, when you burn the flag "in protest" you've already lost whatever argument you were making.
For some, no choice. Stuck here. Personally, don't like flag burning. Smell bad. Burn something with nice aroma. Like incense. Or cannabis.
I can't take anything Trump tweets seriously. It's going to be 4 years of Trump trolling/manipulating the media.
You can love America while hating its government. You shouldn't expect everyone to believe "My country, right or wrong." This is a nation built on dissent.
Burning the flag doesn't punish the government. The government doesn't feel. It does punish vets and others who have sacrificed greatly for their right to protest in any manner they choose. In essence, these protesters who desecrate the flag are disrespecting the very people who gave them the right to do so. Of course, the protestors don't care who they hurt as long as the get their 15 minutes regardless of what their actions do for whatever cause they espouse. And as stated above, when you have to resort to flag burning to get attention, you've already lost the argument.
Maybe, but losing an argument shouldn't be illegal or revoke citizenship. It has been deemed protected speech. It is removing a right to make it illegal or cost an American their citizenship. I don't like rights being taken away.
Make burning in public a violation, whether flag or other. No 1 year in jail, though. Or- no citizenship????? Silly. Can't do that. "If you burn flag, you must wear underwear on outside of pants in public." Make about as much sense as taking away citizenship. Again, tRUMP= dUMB.
