Netflix believes that these exclusive deals are their primary method to drive new customers to subscribe, which is why they spend so much money on exclusive content.

If I didn't own netflix, I would definitely get it for the Chapelle Specials.

Netflix already has a tiered model based on quality (you can pay more for higher quality video, I believe). How long before they have a tiered model for content? Pay to get the exclusives new, or pay less and wait a few months for access type model.

$60 million doesn't go as far as $50 million used to though.

that would be disappointing for the consumer. i love having to pay once a month, and have access to all content on netflix, without feeling the inkling the pay for something else...

So did I understand that article right that these specials will just be previously recorded stand-up? This is not more sketch shows/specials? I love the guy's standup too but when I saw the thread title I was really hoping the we would get more of his brilliance in sketch comedy format.

Want to see how rich Netflix is? If you use paypal to auto-pay with them each month, you can go look at how much overall money you have paid Netflix. I had been a member since like 2006 and once I saw the total dollar amount I had spent I immediately cancelled it. I barely use it.

Okay, so you cancelled it because you don't use it...not because of how much money they've made. If you were to stop using a service because of how much money they've made, you probably should stop using the internet entirely and stop watching NBA basketball. Better ditch your vehicle too.

Dang slow down cowboy. My post was meant to show that it shocked me on how much I had spent total YTD on a service that is advertised as "cheap" therefore people wonder how they make money. The OP clearly said "How can Netflix afford this?"

Also, to answer your question: YES. I cancelled because I never use it and at the same time was shocked on how much I had spent.
