This all boils down to what the issue has always been.... get into a major conference or realize that success will likely result in staff defections. The Big XII failure was really hard on the people at UH that worked for years to get into a major conference. There are going to be other options in the next 4-5 years, but UH needs to get in on whatever the next round of expansion is. The ACC is the best bet. I have heard zero on who the next coach but I do know after the Big XII failure UH knew they would quite possibly be looking for a new coach. I am very intrigued with who they want.... by "they" I mean the two billionaires that will be writing the checks.
I agree Donny. Nobody put a pistol to his head to tell these kids that. His TRUE character shining through!!!
Herman doesn't owe anything to the media or fans but his players deserved honesty. Not some Clinton-esque "I didn't have sexual relations with that woman" honesty - truth by omission is still crappy. In any case, as a UT alum, I welcome Herman. Hook em!
Bad loss for the Cougars but totally expected and definitely not the end of the world. Herman isn't a much better coach than Strong and we all know how that worked out. Texas needs a complete culture change at levels that nothing but time can repair. Herman will win there but not at the level Texas is hoping for and they'll be doing this again in five or six years. As for Houston, some things never change. It's a shame, they really do deserve better.
Hindsight is 20/20. Levine was a continuity hire - similar to hiring Orlando. It will be interesting what direction UH chooses.
This is all Drake's fault. As soon as Houston beat Oklahoma and he donned on their jersey, Houston was doomed. DOOOOMED. Thanks Drake. Stay away from the Rockets.
Plz take major with you. It really sucks that any success for UH means coach will always have a foot out the door. This was totally expected but still hurts. Don't blame him for leaving for his dream job, but he handled it poorly and left a bad taste in a lot of mouths. I'd be lying if I said I wish him success at UT. Eat ****, Tom. Sigh. We'll be alright. Dana is my fave but I trust they'll pick the right guy.
Lane Kiffin may be the right choice. He had the "power 5" coaching experience and it ended badly at USC and Tennessee. A "non-power 5" job may be the best fit for him.
He did say that's his "dream" How's rice doing? Hope you had a horrible thanksgiving, if you even have anyone to celebrate with
Read Read my post carefully dumbass. I said it's not going to happen but he would be my dream hire for my coogs
Kiffin will get another P5 HC shot soon and he'll jump ship as soon as he could. Not sure that's the guy for UH.
