Sorry, you can't be right about both DMo being happy for 1 1/2 months after we signed Anderson and also saying the Rockets "played DMo", "betrayed him" and coaxed him not to sign an offer sheet in the $12m+/yr range.

Dude, you have said both in the past 24 hours. One is wrong.

You're just changing your story to this now as a way to explain why he has still never signed an offer sheet for big dollars. And why no SnT happened during the summer.

Anderson and EGo agreed to sign with Cap money during the Moratorium. By the time DMo could sign with us or any team, the only free agent business requiring cap room the Rox had left was to sign Onuaku. So, after betraying him by signing Ryno, you are saying Morey made him happy again for a 1 1/2 months...and played him that long? Just to sign Onuaku?

So the argument is why didn't they leave minutes open and offer more money for a guy who performed poorly last season vs signing people who played better than him last season?

If I'm D-Mo and I see that I can easily pick up 10 minutes at C and 5-10 minutes at PF and the coach is telling me he sees me fitting in perfectly, I go to war with that. 15-20 minutes is PLENTY of time to earn more minutes quickly, especially with coach on your side. Get a head start, beat people out in practice, work slowly towards shaking the rust off and sharpening my game by end of season.

If - as I'm hoping/dreaming - D-Mo CAN work his way back into his peak form, HE WOULD HAVE HAD 15 GAMES TO DO IT BY NOW AND WELL ON HIS WAY TO EARNING THE MINUTES HE WANTS. What's worse is Anderson hasn't even played as well as he has in the past, so there WAS plenty of opportunity for D-Mo. That's what sucks is that D-Mo would have been an automatic option those games where Anderson was struggling badly. When Nene was being rested.

I was on D-Mo's side all this time but at this point, he is waiting for a teammate to get injured and that annoys me. Yes I know I'm repeating it for the millionth time.

Exactly. If I'm DMo, I know I can beat out Nene, and I know Ryno is only averaging 30 mpg at best. Hell, I think I'm better than Capela, too. And I believe my agent basketballholic when he says we are trading Capela for a PG anyhow.

Great. Then why are they pouting all the time? Why don't they go out and get that money?

RFA is NOT a dirty business, it is a business. And you threw a hard accusation at Morey with nothing to back it up but that D-Mo was "betrayed" because we signed a starting four instead of starting the guy that gave us 6 and 3 last year and has never done better than 8 and 4. Every person that writes about, watches, follows the Rockets has known for a long time we had a hole at the 4. Of course we were hoping TJ and/or D-Mo would grow into that role but neither has ever done so.

D-Mo has never shown us more, even in his best games, than TJ did in his best games. To you TJ shouldn't be in the league but D-Mo has earned 20 mil. Are you guys related or something? Apart from DD's love for white Europeans I have never seen someone here twist himself into such pretzels to support a role player.

You tell two, completely contradictory stories, as HP has pointed out. In one this poor man is being harmed by our evil GM, in fact he has been BETRAYED by him. In that one you see D-Mo like the main character in a tragedy of Shakespearean proportion. In the other, we're all dumb and we'll be made to eat our hats when we see how bright the future is for D-Mo. In that one "Yule C" and he will get paid a **** ton of money to play for a team he favors. If one is true, how is the other also true? You contradict yourself almost every other post as you flip from one narrative to the other.

And all this over a guy that never gave us more than your most hated Rocket, D-Mo's competition for those minutes, T Jones.

    You're a silly dude.

It's clear to me that holic's thought process went like this:
    1. Holic argues strongly that Morey will sign DMo for big dollars
    2. Holic feels betrayed when Morey signs Anderson
    3. Holic feels played by his sources who never said anything about Anderson
    4. Holic quickly gets "happy" and "isn't stressing" because in early July he thinks up a SnT that lands him both Rubio *and* makes him right about DMo getting big dollars
    5. Holic posts that SnT idea to his Sauce buddies at thedreamshake.com for confirmation
    6. Holic sits back for months saying Yule C, because alternative realities are depressing
    7. QO expires and Holic re-calibrates his SnT
    8. Holic has to be explained that SnT are no longer allowed
    9. Holic suggests a Trade in Sign to circumvent the CBA rules against SnTs
    10. Holic suggest signing after Trade Deadline to force no-trade onto next year, yet how does that make Morey give him more money, and if another team is still going to pay him $12m+/year, why not just ask for a No-Trade clause for Yr 2 to sign now...make Morey match that like Cuban did with Parsons.
    11. Holic now projects onto DMo his feeling of betrayal in #2 above
Anyone want to add to this?

D-Mo should have his eyes held open as in A Clockwork Orange and made to read each of the mega-threads that sit at the top of the GARM forum. If he did, and if he read all the posts that so many reasonable people have made and saw that only his homeboy basketballholic sees his side of things and has made himself look a fool doing it, maybe he would finally be brought back to earth and realize that he's worth what the market bears and nobody is screwing him over. That that is all in his head and he's acting like he's entitled to a contract he hasn't earned. And that he could earn the contract he wanted if he were playing but he's doing nothing to help his cause sitting out.

When employees from, say, the airlines go on strike, it affects everyone and something has to be done to resolve it so both parties have a lot of hand. This is not that. This is the opposite of that. The Rockets have all the leverage and the role player that wants to be paid like a star based on the potential we've waited four years to come true is only harming his own career. He could have his 30 minutes or more by now if he's as good as the salary he desires. And, if he can play and play consistently (his ongoing problem and TJ's), he could have assurances he would be signing a BIG contract in the summer after this season.

He's not doing that though. He's not doing anything to help his cause. He is only harming it. And his value is dropping as we see that we have a roster that can get it done without him, even though we would rather he was an important contributor too.

The Rockets want him. They aren't willing to go above market value. The way RFA works is the player brings an offer sheet to get a higher payday. D-Mo didn't do that. He seems to think the rules that work pretty well for every other player (even if RFA isn't their favorite time in their careers) don't apply to him.

It's like his mother told him too many times how special he was and he believed the hype. But wishing and going so absurdly far as to feel "betrayal" from the fact of us signing a starting 4 is not going to get him a better contract.

To see him say that he's confused or hurt by the situation just tells me BJ and his friends are giving him extremely bad advice. He needs to suit up and play if he ever wants to be in the NBA again.

I have to disagree that he never showed more than Jones.

Without D-Mo playing second fiddle to Harden, the Rockets wouldn't have made the WCF a couple years ago. No Dwight and the Rockets stayed afloat largely due to D-Mo's contributions. I think it's silly to try and argue otherwise. From what we've seen of $20 million man Ryan Anderson, he likely wouldn't have been able to provide what D-Mo did during that year either.

It's not accurate to say Jones did more than D-Mo in his time with the Rockets. He never showed up when it counted. Motiejunas did.

    There's a difference.

That being said, again, I think this saga has gone on too long and it's not going to end well. Even if he comes back, the team has really moved on and it would take a hell of a long time for the rust to be shaken off.

I'm not sure what the right resolution is to this drama.

Not so much adding to this but I have to say that the Rubio angle is perhaps the funniest. There was no way we were going to covet Rubio once we had MDA and needed to surround Harden with shooters. Harden's numbers this year bear that out. He hasn't improved incredibly much in his playmaking; he just has guys that can finish when he passes to them now. That's shooters and scorers, not assist men. And why do we need the great assist man, Ricky Rubio, when Harden leads the league in assists, precisely because he's been surrounded by solid finishers.

Great post. Another epic exposure of 'holic's ridiculous posts.

D-Mo had approximately 4 months in which he really distinguished himself. I believe they were in the '14-15 season. Jones also had some impressive runs and IIRC they were in the same season.

Each player's main problem has been the same: consistency.

But either player would be absurd to feel betrayed by the signing of a starting 4. We gave them four years and neither manage to fill the gap. Of course we signed a starter at the 4. And the delicious irony here is that if D-Mo is worth what he's asking for he would be starting in Anderson's place now while Anderson finds his role on this team, because he's been slow to do it.

I don't agree this isn't "going to end well" and I disagree that "the team has really moved on." The team has been forced to find players to take his minutes and they have stepped up. That's not good for D-Mo's negotiating power. But both MDA and Morey want him back and want him playing real minutes with this team.

It is only D-Mo and BJ Armstrong holding this up. D-Mo should be playing now. The only reason he isn't is bad advice from his agent.

"By the way, the Rockets are willing to pay DMo more now too. If DMo signed an offer sheet right now for 3/75 with the first year guaranteed, Morey would match in a heartbeat."
This remains the most ridiculous thing I've read in this thread. BBholic, explain this. No, I'm not looking through the thread to find your previous thoughts. You can't justify Morey (or even DMo's mom) paying DMo 3/75. It's indefensible. You know it.

Saying "4 months" is a bit of a misleading statement. He played well from November-March. That's basically an entire NBA season as a season is from November-mid April. Jones was injured that season from November to March. Dwight was injured or "resting" most of the year until about April. Josh Smith was acquired in late December or so.

Harden, Motiejunas, and Ariza (who never gets enough credit) kept the team afloat (obviously with contributions from other role players like Canaan, Dorsey, Black, Smith, and Brewer) and around the 2nd-3rd seed this entire time.

Jones did not have "impressive runs" that season. Although to be fair, he had quite a few really good (albeit inconsistent) games the year prior, but that was with Harden, Parsons, and Dwight on the court the entire season. It was a different situation.

Motiejunas and Harden had to carry a huge load of the burden in 14-15. It was mentioned on CF around that time that Harden himself thanked D-Mo before the playoffs began (Rockets had just had announced D-Mo done for season) and mentioned they wouldn't have made it here without him.

Again, this is why to a lot of us feel D-Mo contributed more than Jones. We would have never reached the WCF without Motiejunas's contributions that year. Additionally, his consistency before injury and his work ethic are top notch. Jones never had that sort of impact on the team.

As far as the rest of your post goes, it does not seem it will end well. That being said, we don't really know how it's going to end. It's obviously discouraging that we're well into the season and nothing has happened yet. Time is precious in an NBA season and things are not progressing.

The team has definitely moved on, that is not really a debatable point. D'Antoni's words the other day, however, are encouraging that he believes D-Mo is such an impactful player that if/when they get him back he'll be able to fit right in with ease. I think that's a very telling statement from the coach and I completely agree with you that Morey and the coach both want Motiejunas back and playing for the team. I also agree with you that it is entirely D-Mo's own fault for getting into this situation by following garbage advice from his hack agent.

It's especially funny when Holic says Ryno, Capela, Nene and Ariza (via small ball) would eat all DMo's minutes, yet he says Ryno is "duplicitous" to DMo and Capela is not good. He is actually using an argument that DMo feels he can't be a "super sub" on a team this thin at PF/C. Holic even admits "super sub" is all the promise MDA gave him.

I'm waiting for him to say DMo feels further betrayed MDA developed Dekker to be better, too.

This holic hilarity is a byproduct of his obscene misunderstanding of Rubio. DMo was only a part of his overall Rubio Fantasy.

I've been trying to help him for years now. And yet still, like a genuine addict, he keeps going back to that Rubio stuff that makes him feel good and allows him to escape reality. I love the guy so I hate to see him continuously do this to himself, but you can only help those who want to be helped.

    13. Holic projects that sitting out a full season now makes DMo worth $24mill per
    14. If Dmo doesnt get 24 mill, it is because Morey tricked him, and used the CBA to screw him over. DMo will now wisely sit out 5 years until a new CBA is agreed upon
    15. Yule C. 2023 starting PF DMo.
