I agree that her message was off and this was why I was saying back in October that she needed to shift her message from just dealing with Trump what her agenda was. I felt it was necessary so she could govern but in hindsight it probably would've helped her with the states she lost.

Anyway the final vote tallies show that national polling actually wasn't very far off.

National polling seems kind of stupid since national popular vote counts for absolutely nothing.

This is primarily one of the reasons why I detested Hillary. She is a Washington elitist who does not give a damn about those who casted a vote for her and she treats those who refuse to vote for her as 'deplorable'. Her only concern was taking the POTUS accolade in which she felt was entitled to her. You are exactly right, she campaigned on the establishment narrative which she felt empowered the party more.

One can hate on Trump all day, but he understands the little people. How and if he manipulates them, only time will tell. Contrary to Hillary who is absolutely clueless, she will let the big Banks manipulate her into hurting the little people.

Her comment about deplorables was an explicit reference to racists and misogynists...

I know, I know. Your bubble does not allow you to believe that those types exist today.

Yes, Donald Trump the man who slipped out of a 300 million dollar vagina understands the common people.

Apparently offering constructive things like job training didn't sell as well as protectionism and nationalism.

The tweets ask for volunteers to oversee the recounts. You know, like how the Trumpeteers were going to go to "certain areas" to stop the "rigged" election? Damn, I almost forgot the election was rigged!

Trump understands the "little people" well enough to tell them what they want to hear. He is a master salesman.

What I have trouble believing is whether he actually cares about the little people.

Actually Clinton had a lot of detailed plans for increasing education, job training and investments into rust belt areas and places like West Virginia. If anything her campaign policies showed much more care about the little people than Trump's who's plans were vague and relied upon threatening trade wars and that he could make great deals.

I agree with you though. Trump understands people. He understands how to sell to them even as he defrauds them. It's why he has had to settle many lawsuits including the one against his university.

It gives a sense about the overall mood of the nation but you're right that state by state polls are more important and there the pollsters fell on their faces.

Because it's too much work. If they had any interest in learning, they wouldn't be duped by the promise of protectionism and nationalism being the silver bullet to this country's ills.

Stupid people are stupid for a reason.

The trick is how do you craft a message that resonates with them without lying to them?

You seem like one of those liberals who gets confused from forming a consistent opinion due to taking in empirical data from your surroundings. In this case, you are confused because you don't simply believe President Elect Trump. Instead, you seem to look at his 50 years as an adult human and see absolutely zero evidence for him caring about much of anyone but himself. In fact, you can see decades-long evidence that he will screw over the little guy if it saves him or makes him money or increases his brand.

Silly liberal. Quit looking at evidence.

Come on B-bob. Zero evidence he cares about anyone but himself? That is demonstrably false.

Just a few examples I found in a quick Google search.

I can post more if you like. I can understand not liking his policies or his rhetoric or even some of his past behavior but to state he has "50 years as an adult human and see absolutely zero evidence for him caring about much of anyone but himself" is a bit over the top wouldn't you say?

In Trumplandia syntax, my statement was actually fairly measured and reasonable. But for normal B-Bob behavior, yes, it is a bit over the top.

I agree that "absolutely zero" defies logic for even Donald Trump, given many decades of life. We can find more than absolutely zero evidence for him caring about somebody else, and you've posted a couple of very legit cases. Thank you.

Unfortunately, what I will absolutely stand by is this: on the whole, the vast preponderance of the evidence suggests he does not care for the little man, and especially not the little woman. Whether in his record of housing discrimination, his stiffing people, contractors, and laborers who've worked for him, or insulting a truly awe-inspiring array of groups and individuals, this is one mean, self-centered SOB, by the evidence. Not sure why we need to polish that record or how it's even arguable, on the evidence.

But I am ever-ready to be proven very wrong about his capabilities, his inner compass, and see him care for the most vulnerable Americans, the poor in all stripes, and the struggling middle class. I would love and applaud moves that would help them.

Lol. His tweets are embarrassing TBH. If he won legitimately, he should just keep his mouth shut. Saying petty stuff like this just makes him look worse. Pretty humorous to still claim an election you won is rigged.
