http://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...pers-rockets-blazers-hornets-lakers/94306692/ Oh hey, second best lineup in the league.
Anderson is a proven in-game shooter. As good of a shooter as Wiltjer is, he has to prove it consistently in games before you can say he's better than Anderson. Possibly more importantly, Anderson is appreciably better at all the supposed deficiencies of both players. The same could be said for any 3/4 on the team, like Ariza. Ariza is less than passable at defending 4's and rebounding (keeping 4's off the boards), and is needed for perimeter defense and floor-spreading at the 3.
Well I wasn't saying Wiltjer was better, I was just saying that nearly 100% of what Ryan Anderson brings to a basketball team is his 3 point shooting. He's absolutely awful defensively, isn't a ball handler, isn't a passer, isn't really a rebounder. Given that, if another person could hit 40% from 3 and give the spacing Anderson can, wouldn't they bring about the same thing to the table? I just think it's ridiculous to pay a 3 point specialist that much given that there's nothing else he brings to a team.
So you think Anderson is absolutely awful defensively in his stay in Houston? I wasn't paying particular attention to it all the time but whenever I paid attention his D was solid. I am no a D expert for team defense but one on one I can't remember anyone abusing him this season.
The numbers suggest that he's been absolutely awful defensively his entire career, including his time here. In fact according to DRPM he's the 6th worst defensive PF in the NBA (or 86th best) Now we can throw different metrics at each other all day long, but there's nothing that is going to show him as even average defensively. He's terrible, always has been, always will be.
Thnx although, I am not a big fan of 'statistics' . Actually I think its pretty fun but can be misinterpreted easily. BTW How do you explain then gasol and lamarcus not abusing him in 2 games vs spurs? Again this is only per my eye test.
Anderson is the new stat padder . He'll make a couple threes when the game is pretty much out of reach to keep that 3 point percentage up .
