As a 22 year old he has had some great minutes against all kinds of bigs, and he appears to be getting in shape.

If opponents are driving into Clint's body, our defense is doing exactly what it is designed to do. As long as he doesn't foul, tough shots for the offense.

(Hence the Jazz number 1 defense)

The situation you are describing is like complaining that Centers struggle to block reverse layups.

Of course they struggle to block shots when guards get into their body. That's exactly what the move is for.

Go ask the most knowledgeable coach you can find how to attack a shot blocker at the rim and they will tell you to get to their body. Lmao.

No wonder you consider Gobert a bad defender, your criteria is uninformed.

I don't consider Gobert a bad defender. That's simply you guys extrapolating from my post. I said Gobert was awful Saturday night. And him and Capela are the same type defender, better in space, but poor when the play compacts down close to them.

Capela is a much smaller and slower version of Gobert. He gives up around 30 pounds, 3 inches of height and 4-5 inches of reach. That will show up later in the season and in the playoffs where the action is faster and the bigs are bigger, quicker, and more skilled.

It's one game. I'm glad he did well. It won't continue long term. He will fade back to mediocrity. We need to trade him.

I'm not going to justify my takes anymore here. Disagree if you will. Just like in Terrence's case, time will prove I'm right. You gotta watch the games and you gotta know and understand what you're seeing when you watch the games.

if Clint can at least avg 10-15 pts and 5-10 rebounds on most nights I'm good... and now we see he's capable of scoring 20 pts on occassion

Dwert cannot be completely touched for now but he will make the Dwightless team great again.

The Nuggets had an easy wire to wire win over the Jazz today. The Nuggets have have one of the worst frontcourts in the league. Capela's performance against the Jazz with Favors out didn't mean much. The Jazz were meant to lose.

Jazz are overrated period.Well he dominated Steven Adams and Joel Embid as well. Those two are hardly chopped liver.

    This can't be said enough.

The story is more about what a monster Harden is now that the defense can't camp in the lane. The system with the players have forced the Blue defender out of normal Ice defense position, and Harden is clubbing baby seals now with his floater or Oop to Capela

While on the subject, anyone notice Harden is starting to probe the lane, too, a little like Brandon Roy would. Getting little 10-ftrs because they are afraid of his passing and backing up.The game is slowing down in his mind

I've watched every game and as many other teams games as I've had time to get through.

I mean, I'm not as studious as you. I'd certainly like to learn, at least enough to know what you mean by blue defender but my eye for the game is pretty sharp. It's pretty apparent that with no one challenging Harden for the role of Batman they've unleashed him and the role players around him to be the best they can be. Clint isn't better than Dwight individually, his willingness to play Robin makes up the talent gap though. Anderson's impact just existing as a shooter on the floor requires the defense to respond.

I do wonder what could've been if Dwight had the same attitude as Capela. Even if they somehow found a way to both share the alpha spot, I still question Dwight's post game. He thought he was half shaq, half hakeem. He never grasped Hakeem's moves and never was the bully Shaq was...the thing that always killed me, besides that one clumsy baby hook was he never understood that a good portion of Hakeem's mind games came from the ability to pass. Kicking out to shooters, cutters or reposting in better spots. Then lulling defenders to sleep with moves that setup moves that setup counters that set up the unstoppable baseline fadeaway. Dwight's mental midgetery didn't end there either, even though he is clearly a better individual defender and rebounder than CC getting called for obvious fouls or catching elbows got under his skin and affected his play. Clint kinda just says, whatever and moves on. The team doesn't suffer every time he catches a call, even if it's bad. Their teamwork, communication, intangible stuff is on another level this year. It's because Dwight is gone. It's night and day. It's obvious, even to casual observers like me.

It's almost becoming like a read option for him now, to mix metaphors haha.

He can either hand off (pocket pass or lob) to Clint; or pull it(attack the basket or floater.

    Really nice to watch.

Not sure how you're measuring their speed but besides that you do realize Clint is 2 years younger than Rudy right? Which is crazy to think how much Clint has improved in such a short period of time, you stated Rudy and Clint are almost identical players, again crazy bc Clint has been in the league 2 years and to compare him to someone like Rudy is pretty impressive. Clint is already developing an inside game while Rudy has been a full time starter for 2+ years and his best move is when he doesn't have the ball. Again Clint could be much better if he continues to improve and so far he's done that, I'll give him one more year before he fully blossoms

Capela fits what we want to do.

Not going to be an all star at every position but a young cheap guy that does quite a few things well and fits the team well is a good thing.

Only trade Clint for a clear upgrade.

Clint passed with flying colors ...played big/quality minutes against Drummond. He was a little gassed late, nevertheless impressive.

"We are all watching the same games..." and CC is playing well. Held his own to the tune of 15 & 12 tonight against one of the better bigs in the game.

Pride- a high or inordinate opinion of one's own merit. ex: Basketballholic has been told by several people that Clint Capela's game is improving. However, since he already has stated that Capela is no good 'holics pride will not allow him to change his mind.

Not only he held his own, he pretty much out played Drummond.First Embiid, then Adams followed Gobert and now Drummond. He is talking all before him and improving such a rapid time. . Kid is turning into a future monster..With him and Dekker I am now optimistic we have some key pieces for the future.
