Could you elaborate? It's clear you have a bias. You didn't make a single rational argument why Herman wouldn't be successful at UT other than the fact that they haven't been good for sometime. It's not like UofH was setting the world on fire before Herman got there.

We don't need to give UH anything. We'll just take your coach and you can't do anything about it.

No haste to you all, I just find it interesting how many longhorn fans think of taking Herman from us is all is needed. You don't understand that our program has done many things which have changed within administration from top to bottom. My point to you is change the leadership of your athletic department, change the way that politics is so heavily ingrained into your football. Mack brown when first on the scene was the coach he held the reigns and that was it, the buck stopped with him. Now its 10 different coaches aka boosters and others who rear their ugly heads into your program who have nothing to offer but money.

It comes down to simple football when it comes to winning games. Basic fundamentals. On offense and defense. They lack that, and I'm not really sure what these kids are being taught in practice, but it isn't fundamental football. With the amount of talent in this program currently and the current state of the Big 12 and really college football, this team should've won 9 or 10 games. This comes down to simple fundamental football first before anything else. A defensive minded coach like Strong really has no idea on how to develop young talent on defense. Offensively at least there is some promise although today it was ugly with 6 turnovers.

There's nothing that needs to do be done in the administration side. We don't even have a permanent AD at the moment.

    The
The politics at Texas suck and I do acknowledge that Strong was behind the 8-ball to begin with with people like Red McCombs. But, he's never delivered and so many of the mistakes this team makes come down to coaching. He's lost his chance and now Texas will open the checkbook for Herman in a way that few schools can dream of doing.

Telling Texas to "get the politics" out of its program is cute and indicative of where UH has been. If you don't think that politics exist at all of the largest programs, you're naïve.

    Lastly if
I mean what more is there to say other than the fact that this same coach had if not the same progression as Herman and look at the result. This coach did beat a 4 ranked Florida team in the sugar bowl with that Louisville team, led them too 2 pretty unbelievable seasons similar to Herman. Is charlie strong horrible? I really doubt it. I think this might be one of the worst stretches you guys have had in your storied tenure. I wouldn't just chalk it up too coaching

I mean I understand there's politics in UT football and always will be, but i'm just saying it is very very naive to believe coaching is the crux of this issue. Read what I wrote above if you would like facts

That's why I'm not that much of a fan of Herman. He hasn't accomplished much at all, and I find him to be overrated. Then what would you chalk it up to? Either you haven't watched UT the last 3 years, or you don't know football. It's that simple. External factors beyond what goes on on the football field are not even an single ounce of why Strong has never been able to get above .500 in the worst P5 conference in the nation the last 3 years. That simply sounds like a completely fantasized excuse for someone who has just never lived up to coaching in a p5 conference.

Some guys just aren't capable. One or two signature wins are not going to change that. The hardest part of maintaining a program in a p5 conference is consistency. This is why you see nearly the same programs at the top every year. Those coaches know what it takes to get it done or at least have an understanding. Strong really has no clue.

I read what you wrote and I agree to an extent. My point is that those politics and outside pressures have always existed at Texas and always will. It didn't prevent the team from winning conference and national championships before.

UH has done a great job of building up their program and garnering alumni support from people like Fertita. It's a shame they didn't get a Big 12 invitation, but they'll get something from another conference soon. But the success at UH is relatively recent and there aren't a ton of big time boosters thumbing their nose at the AD. But that happens at Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, etc. and those teams don't lose to Kansas. The mistakes this season are a direct reflection of Strong's poor coaching. He's going to be fired and Texas is going after Herman. What happens then is anybody's guess.

Charlie Strong didn't suddenly forget to coach.

UT is a toxic environment with the politics and boosters involved.

When is the last time that UT football got exactly the head coach they wanted?

UT has an tremendous number of things going for it.... location, money, state legislature, history, facilities... but it also has attributes coaches want to avoid.

The next 2-3 years at UT will be interesting to say the least.

How is it naive? You're pointing to fantasy as to why the team has had bad results the last 3 years. "Politics" doesn't play on the field. Politics is not the reason DBs get burned. I'm sorry but you're way off base and don't have a single clue as to what you're saying. You presented no facts at all to back up what you're saying either. Charlie has been given a fair shot from the beginning. The only thing you could really say is he hasn't been given that 4th year (at least not yet) to fully prove if he's up for it. But I don't really see what would change next season. You would have an older group of players, yes. But the problem lies with coaching. If that doesn't improve it doesn't really matter how experienced the players are.

Once again, another UH fan coming in here acting like he knows what the actual problem is. "Toxic environment" didn't cause them to lose to Cal. Neither did any booster. I guess by this logic we should hope for a new president, new AD, new boosters, new everything so that we can finally win the big 12!

    Idiotic logic.

But he apparently forgot how to run a program, or is in over his head running a major one like UT. Maybe he's not used to coaching and having so much on his plate. The players don't look prepared and are constantly making mistakes. He picked these coordinators getting shuffled in and out. Etc.

I don't know why you and others say that Herman is "not even that good". He's been successful throughout his coaching career at numerous schools. Being the offensive coordinator for a national champion looks pretty good on a resume in my opinion. Herman knows offense and brings excitement to a program. I think he's done a terrific Job at UH with some pretty average talent. I think he would be very successful at UT, and it wouldn't take three or four years.

Cut the bullshit. Someone as smart as you shouldn't fall victim to such a simple-minded media narrative

Except he did forget how to coach. He's lost many winnable games due to poor game planning, play calls, and time management. He's a good life coach, but he's a bad football coach.

Mack brown was having trouble in the final leg of his career too hence why they fired him. Charlie Strong goes from a coach every college program was dying for too a now a subpar coach in a span of 3 years? A coach who got his 3 star recruits to beat many other teams which were well and beyond they're respective talent level? I mean yes he might not be the perfect coach for your program but c'mon its not just the coach. It's like when the Texans were heavy on firing Kubiak and solely pointing to him as the reason our team was ass for so long. What happened when he left? Coaches help to an extent they cannot change everything unless you find a saban type or so who will ultimately push down everyone back into their proper places and lead the show like a real coach should.
