If the percentage does go up from 250% to 300%, Motiejunas' cap hold for next season could be $6,864,615. Motiejunas' current cap hold is 250% [$5,720,513] of his 4th year rookie scale salary [$2,288,205]. (see CBA FAQ #38)

*NOTE: That Nate Duncan & Larry Coon podcast mentioned they may 'grandfather' this in and not enable these multipliers until 1 or 2 years from now (or provide another opportunity for rookie extensions).

    [ESPN - Zach Lowe - Oct 26, 2016]
One wrinkle in the current proposed deal, according to sources familiar with it: Cap holds attached to free agents coming off rookie contracts could jump to 250 and 300 percent of their prior salaries, up from 200 and 250 percent, to prevent teams from arranging wink-wink deals as San Antonio and Detroit did with Kawhi Leonard and Andre Drummond, respectively

You don't know what you are talking about. It's just forum, just admit you don't know what's going on and move on.

Just realized the day after the 23rd deadline is Thanksgiving. He's going to sign on the 23rd, so the next day we will all have something to be grateful for ...

Such us nice, heart-warming and American conclusion to a emotionally draining and confusing Fall, all around.

except @larsv8, apparently. He's still going for the "slam dunk victory" of losing a whole year of DMo's career. :p

I love D-Mo, and I know we need him, but I am really bummed that Montrezl and Dekker will get their minutes cut drastically as a result.

Well, we don't know that. It could be Nene getting the rest.

Agreed I see DMo playing mostly the 5 with MDA, which would mean Harrell and Nene lose the most minutes.

    You missunderstand me.

I don't care either way, I am simply making a prediction on what I think Morey will do, based on my observations of his M.O. over the past ten years.

people who complain about Anderson's contract are dumb considering we sign dmo and we essentially have no more Space. let's say we got Anderson for 12and then signed dmo, we would be tapped out.

I don't have a horse in this race, but I can tell you with certainty that Daryl Morey was told to spend the money and Les Alexander had final say on who to target in free agency and what to bid up to. Les Alexander also chose the head coach.

    We're already essentially tapped out.

My guess: D-Mo's camp is waiting to see the new CBA. Any changes to restricted free agency might be in his favor and improve his situation immediately. Not sure he'll find what he wants, but it's probably worth it for him to wait it out.

At what point is DMo shooting himself in the foot by not getting himself signed?

Well... that depends... if DMo can hold out long enough for the inevitable injuries to key big men and score the multi-year non-TO contract he is looking for, he wins out in this situation. Our own Anderson and Nene are prime candidates for making that happen for him. Question is, does his bank account have the financial fortitude to stomach holding out while he gains rust from sitting out. Then, there is the question about his back and whether or not it is still injured and how will it hold out against the rigors of the NBA season.

Every single thing that has come out from various sources shows that the new CBA is much more in favour of RFA. Less time to match, can sign offersheets from the same time as UFA, can't take back the QO ( like the case with Waiters in OKC)
Except the remote possibillity that they don't enforce the rule by next year to give the teams some leeway.
Is there a timeline when we should except the new CBA to come officially out?
Coon speculated they will take a lot of time now since they agreed so fast to iron out the details carefully.

Maybe 2 months ago he shot himself in the foot by not having a team make an offer for Morey to match.

    He has 0 leverage.

I think at this point the Rockets should offer him the training facility and personal training staff to stay in shape and regaining his confidence that the team do care about him.
Now there's a lot of ego and feeling involved.
By taking the high road the club can help D-mo climb down the ladder and also show to other players in the league that it's not a Morey 'asset' vibe like it is perceived at the moment, and they do really take care of their own.
