That's a shame. Does Fox 26 have some policy against their news people expressing political views on personal web pages?

Yes, if Fox 26 felt her private actions would reflect on them in a way they didn't like, then they should have fired her.

This is what was most confusing...the second image seems to be what got her fired...but this was clearly a political view/stance on a private social media page...FOX 26 must have gotten pressure from internal sources/colleagues to fire the lady...

It's not that confusing. My company could fire me if I did something on my own time that they felt reflected poorly on them. That's pretty standard.

Whether it's wise to do so or not is a different issue, and one which we frankly don't have enough information to give an informed opinion on.

she might have been fired for expressing her views on social media not because of what those views are.

It's perfectly acceptable to fire someone for being stupid.

There have actually been cases where companies fired people because of social media posts and been sued for wrongful termination and the company lost. It's not as straightforward as you think.

However, as a news person she likely signed a contract that said something about what she could and could not do on social media. I don't think they fired her for expressing a conservative opinion, I think they fired her for so boldly expressing a political opinion of any nature.

I am sure that as a journalist she should be neutral on her politcal stance...but considering the current climate of intolerance by MSM to conservative view points...she was clearly terminated for a political stance. I do expect FOX 26 to get sued for wrongful termination.

Giving a political stance is NOT something I'd fire my employees for. She basically claims that black on black crimes are higher than white on black crimes...and points out that under Obama's leadership... the problem is worse.

It's very important for local news people to be seen as non-partisan. She couldn't even stop at just a "congrats President-Elect Trump" or something benign, she had to go into full on political preaching about black on black crime and attacking Obama. And neutrality she had was totally shot forever and a news organization in a big, diverse city can't really have that.

But don't try to tell me that it's a bias against conservatives. A lot of the people working at news orgs here in Houston are VERY conservative, including the people running the stations that supported Trump.

You wouldn't. My company might. Fox 26 did.

It's a judgement call, and again one which was no doubt made with more relevant information than we have.

This is nothing to get worked up about IMO.

This is far from the truth...

But this is where we as a society have failed...we have muted those with differing opinions/stances instead of debating their views...all for the sake of being "PC"...why? Her argument about the state of black on black crime under Obama's leadership isnt without merit. If that is why she was fired...that is wrongful termination...

I don't think it's right to fire someone for something they do in their private life unless said person works for the public (e.g. a government employee like a cop, not a low level desk clerk). Companies have that right, but I don't agree with it.

If I were in charge, I'd just tell the employee to watch what they say and how it could personally affect them. Then ride out the SJW storm until those parasites leech onto the next controversy.

From the evidence presented, sounds like kind of an idiot with bad judgment. These do not help your career much. (though it could make you president one day)
