ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Thunder 11/16/2016

It was great to watch and you felt like the Rockets had it in the bag most of the way after they came back. Things slowed down at the end of the 3rd then the 4th happened. The Thunder came out firing and the Rockets slowed them down until the Thunder were given open looks (Oladipo/WB three, and the dumbass NeNe foul with 4 seconds on the clock). I blame MDA for this loss. Capela should have been in. I don't care if NeNe is playing good defense, Capela is the better defender.

 

And we had two timeouts. why not call one after the harden steal.

 

So you telling me on that last inbound play, that MDA decided to put Sewer to guard Westbrook? BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

 

Absolutely terrible game from Harden. That better be his worst game the year. This guy is too good to start a game super passive like he did tonight. Dude wasn't looking for his shot at all until midway through the game when he all of the sudden started forcing ****. He always seems to have around 5-10 games like this a year where he is super passive and and the game chucking away not in rhythm shots ending up like 3-13 or something. He might be able to get away with that against bad teams but above .500 teams he needs to be aggressive all game.

Most supporting cast guys except Gordon played well, outside that ridiculous choke at the end obviously. At least the defense looked alright in the 2nd half after being a joke in the 1st. This team is really frustrating.

 

Stupid team.

Well, tbh i don't think that was Trevor or Harden fault, both things (a quick 2 or a 3) make sense in that situation since we had a couple of timeouts, i mean, a guaranteed -1 with more than 10 seconds to play and one or two timeouts is a good bet imo, maybe even better than a quick three with no teammates to rebound the ball...in the end a turnover like that can happen...i think we lost the game way early..the end of the third quarter was a disaster, literally, we could've ended that easily up 12/14, and we just ended up 5, and also playing with the Nene AND Anderson in the end i don't know...no paint defense and rebounding whatsoever...eh, we should've won this, pretty bad loss.

 

From 7-4 to 6-5 ugh...

Harden choked, his teammates were trash to start out with, and the refs were god awful against the Rockets.

 

Wait until we lose to Blazers tomorrow.

The Thunder have the guys with perimeter length, strength, and speed to deal with Harden. You need to understand that.

This is honestly why Harden will always be 1 tier below the GOATs. He doesn't have a bag of tricks for when he has a smart, good defender who has scouted his game such as Oladipo. MJ had the post game, the leaners, and the faders. He had the mid range game mastered and he could score from anywhere. So did Hakeem (post/faceup and take em off the dribble), Kobe (MJ clone, deep contested threes by creating the exact space he needed, knew how to use the glass with crazy spin layups), Kareem (the skyhook), Magic (post), Duncan (mid range leaners and bank shots), and today's LeBron.

You have to have moves practiced. Harden has the ability to stop on a dime and go. His ability to change direction at his size and go 0-100 combined with his ball handling is something that can be used to work the mid range game.

 

Why did we keep walking the ball up like we were milking the clock? James can't just walk the ball up the ****ing court and begin initiating the offense at 9 secs on the shot clock. He needs to let Eric Gordon bring the ball up when he wants to get in scoring mode. I don't like him playing just strictly point guard.

Harden having the ball in his hands so much for the past 2 years has been the issue. So went out and traded for Ty Lawson to help with the playmaking. Now the organization just says, **** it James play point guard. As if that's not what he's been for the past few seasons.

Do the Rockets care about interior defense?

Spamming 3s is not basketball. They look like noobs on 2k with that bs. I'm sick of watching that ****. If they running you off the line, take what the defense gives you. I thought shooting 3s were meant to stretch the defense. Stop Spamming it. Anderson, Gordon, Ariza, and James should be the only people shooting 3s. When people like Brewer shoot, it shows the Rockets don't value possessions. The high volume of 3s not the quality is all that matters to this team.

Moreyball needs to go.
