Maybe Ford pulled his evil **** on Arnold and put him in some sort of no win situation, like telling a host, who had obtained free will, that Arnold had done somthing to the host and the host should kill Arnold. He then tells Arnold look, this host is going to kill you, unless you take away its free will. Arnold then chooses to be right, rather than to be alive.
They've dropped hints. Bernard was in the elevator and told the french MILF that sometimes he feels he is able to connect better with the hosts than the humans. He is a chief architect in the design and programming of the current hosts, pretty much Ford's right hand man. If ford were to have a host amongst the people aiding in robot building, who better than his original partner with some modifications and the ability to be controlled?
Nice. It seems Bernard is Ford's host he created to fill the role he thought Arnold should have had. It will be interesting to see what host(s) Arnold created to fill the role he believe he should have had.
Who said Arnold wanted to be Bernard? The theory is that Arnold dies and Ford created the bot to replicate him, not that Arnold chose to become Bernard. The loophole I see is it that the picture everyone references was on Ford's desk and shows him seriously younger. Wouldn't a non-Bernard bot see that picture and see Bernard in it and wonder how the heck Bernard took a picture with Ford 35 years ago?
It seems they are trying to show how Ford and Arnold were two different people who wanted two different things. I think the big finale for this season is who Arnold's host(s) actually is. The overreaching theme it seems is consciousness and immortality. Which side is Ford on and which side is Arnold on?
Rewatched the first 3 episodes, but so far Bernard's lines are mainly exposition as they setup the world. He whispers something into the Abernathy father before discontinuing him, something I missed the first time. Also the biggest hole in the dual timelines theory to me, is Dolores shooting the host due to Arnold's voice and memories of MiB, escaping the farm and falling into William's arms. Would be a huge cop out to say her falling into his camp in the past was pure circumstance. I am starting to buy that Bernard is a host built by Ford based off of Arnold. And that the sessions between Dolores and "Bernard" occurred in the past with the real Arnold.
Im starting to believe the same thing. Every time after their conversations she wakes up in her bed as if she were dreaming about these memories.
I would agree this is more plausible because a bot-like Arnold falls in line with the sensitive Ford who builds family robots or robots of fond memories, and it doesn't force us to figure out why Arnold would transcend into the Bernard-bot. 100% agree. Evidence is sound too. Especially with regard to the clothing and meetings, and conversations. And of course that means Arnold is inserted somewhere else ( for me it's the horse, but my second would be Delores ). I'm down.
I love how nobody has delved into Elsie's whereabouts on here... Any speculation? I don't think they'd off her and then bring it up episodes later.. I'm thinking the security guy ends up finding and saving her.
At this point I don't see how people still think he ISN'T Arnold. To me, the biggest clue was not seeing himself in the "picture of Ford and Arnold", which as we now know is a picture of Ford/Ford's dad/Arnold.
She discovered that Theresa was stealing data from the park, but now Theresa is dead. Where does that put Theresa's boss? Did she have an agreement with Ford to exchange Clementine for Theresa?
Since Elsie has reported as "starting her vacation", I think it is safe to say that Ford got her and probably is replacing her with a Host.
Elsie is technically on vacation, so after being grabbed, someone felt the need to alter her status. She was either forced into vacation, or she is captive and on "vacation", or killed and put on "vacation." All she really discovered was that Theresa was backing up or sending data offsite, which it seems like would have been under the authority of the board, so the Board probably doesn't care, nor would Theresa, it's all good. no reason to kill her. Only shut her up till Ford Retires. Bernard doesn't seem to know what happened to her ( asking where is she ) which means that Ford doesn't know either. That likely means that Bernard nor Ford sent someone to kill her. So then who is there and why? I think you could narrow it down to Host, Arnold, Theresa, MIB, or Security. Yep. I have no clue, just talking my way through it. Ford noted in the kill room that it was management and Theresa that were playing God. Not him. That was interesting to me. Also important to note was that Bernard thought he was real in the kill room. So it would seem hard, given that, to think Arnold is inserted into Bernard-bot as transcendent code. And that means that Bernard is simply an Arnold-like bot. Also interesting is that Ford told Bernard to go back to work on the story lines, in-spite of the fact he was fired. That ought to be interesting since everyone saw he was fired.
I'll repeat this since no one has answered. Ford has the picture of himself, his father and allegedly "arnold" on his desk. Forget Bernard for a second, wouldn't anyone else who went into his office have noticed that there was a picture of a really young Ford and Bernard?
At this point though, you can't infer anything from Bernard because Ford basically controls what he knows and what he doesn't.
I'm assuming your point would be that someone like Theresa ( dead operations woman ) ought to be able to figure out that Bernard is a robot if she just looked at the picture, or at the very least think it odd she is sleeping with a guy who hasn't aged in Arnold, who she ought to know about if he died in the park. And that would seem odd. I cannot explain a way out of that.
Yes lol that is exactly my point. I feel like it would be a big plot hold if there was really a picture on fords desk of him with someone that looked just like Bernard but he picture was of ford from 35 years ago. Seems like people would wonder what that was about haha
