Definitely throwing shade and disrespectful as he is saying his business partners are not professionals and are basically his "crew" vs. his business associates.

I don't think Lebron is complaining about the word "posse" as much as he is saying calling his black business associates something less isn't something Phil would do to a white player.

I don't think it's racist but can understand how it has racial undertones.

I mean, yes it was a white athlete, why else would I have responded? That would have made no sense then?? It's just another term for crew haha, people used to say I had a posse!

Another example being used for both skin color athletes (Roger Clemens):

    http://www.barkingcarnival.com/2012...ckmon-and-the-sad-state-of-pro-athlete-posses

Or how about a posse of pets?

    http://houstonlifestyles.com/catching-up-with-the-clemens-family/

Accuse Phil Jackson of disrespect to Lebron (which was the purpose) and his people, but posse doesn't have any racist implications.

I may be way off here, I'm pretty certain idk the extent of how you can be treated while being black in America...

...but this seems like the kind of race-card-pulling that will one day negate some real racial ****.

Kinda like crying wolf. You cry wolf now, people aren't going to care when a real wolf shows up. I don't think Lebron is a good representation of the typical black experience in America anyway so it's kinda trite to begin with. Then he cries wolf on a...idk....on a jackrabbit?

Thug/Richard Sherman I thought was overblown but at least thug has a negative connotation. I had no idea posse was a bad thing. In fact, reading the definition it seems kinda clear to me that it isn't. Maybe Phil Jackson is being a snarky butthole but racist.....probably not what he was going for.

Who knows. I'm just a white guy so I'm probably just being racist.

Lebron is one of the greatest ever to play on the court...

But this is just idiotic and as a fan tiring. "Posse"...that is the word he took offense to...that the associates he hangs out with were called a "posse"...

Kinda find it strange that a self proclaimed King was triggered by Phil Jackson.

People only say "posse" about groups of young black males. It's a racial term as it is commonly used now. Do YOU have a posse?

I have never used it in that context nor ever heard it. Posse is synonymous with entourage and has no positive/negative nor racial connotations to it.

Except that Phil himself defined posse as the group that fetches LeBron's girls and cars for him. So not only is LeBron and team offended ( which is what matters ), but the offender clearly gives his definition a negative connotation, making a clear shot of disrespect and unwarented, not once, but twice now.

This is EXACTLY the kind of issue that destroys credibility. If you are stupid enough to argue that this is racist, no one will listen to you when you argue that other things are racist in the future.

Can someone start a thread that updates daily with words I can't say because they are "racist"? I need guidance here.

    Thanks.

Notice Clutch has a Clutch Crew and not a Clutch Posse or Clutch Entourage.

And the '99ers are his Clique.

The connotation comes from the actions that we associate as negative and not kosher. Jackson certainly disrespected LeBron by calling him a prima donna, but there's no hint of racism in my opinion.

And if we had A Literate Award here, Bobbythegreat wins the prize. Proud of ya for getting it correct, SwoLy-D, but you were just supposed to laugh.

Oh, and try starting a Bobbythegreat Gang and explaining to your mom it's just alliteration. (Just laugh ... I'm making no point here)

    Further proof, '99ers think alike.

I posted this yesterday in the Dish thread version of the story

The word is irrelevant. It's how it's received and how it was intended. That's the world now. And the reason why most men can't figure out what sexual harassment is. Everyone wants a definition, but the law instead wants to know how it was received and made the person feel, and how it was intended. In this case, both sides of the equation are well defined, and both are negative.

My assumption was that you were making a joke, but you never can tell down here with the poo flinging posse. I can't tell you how many times I've had to check with people if their comment was meant to be sarcastic and funny or serious and just really stupid.

I think a "Great Gang" is a really good idea, and if I ever start a newsletter, that's what I'll call my subscribers.

This post made me feel racially persecuted.

    PhiSlammaJamma is racist.
