Dmo is nowhere near the caliber of player that Faried is.

You have to scratch your head at this and wonder what Dmo is doing.

OP always said 11/23. The "unofficial deadline" is 3 months prior to Trade Deadline. But doesn't mean he'll sign. imo, he'll let it pass, so Morey can't trade him.

I had some confusion about Trade Deadline per a Larry Coon comment. Sorry about that. NBA moved it back a week to accommodate the ASG.

Just thinking about this from Morey's perspective, the contract has to be reduced in price if the deadline is passed. The asset's value is taking a pretty significant hit. I want to believe that DMo and his agent understand that they won't get the same contract past that date unless Morey is unusually generous.

I think D-Mo is rehabbing the heck out of his back and will sign on the 23rd.

At this point, I see no reason in just cutting off talks and trying again next offseason.

    Dmo blew it.

He's listening too much to that idiot BJ Armstrong, he can't make 7 million overseas over 2 years and if his back gives out he'll be left with a 2.5 million one year deal at best. The overseas thing may be in play but if he does that its a pride thing and not a cerebral thing. He needs to realize the rockets are taking a risk too, back issues suck but that's the way it is at the current moment with current medicine. It would be nice if he were on the Rockets, I think he would fit in well with this style of play.

Where are the minutes for DMo?

Bev is going to push brewer to the bench (I would say obviously but.....) between dekker, Anderson, Ariza I kinda like how that rotation is working. Can he be a stretch 5? Capela and nene are holding it down but maybe they could find a few minutes there.

Idk, I really think this situation has gone on long enough. Doesn't seem reasonable to expect much from him now.

At this point I think DMo is all in. He said during the summer that playing in the Olympics was his lifelong dream. And that he has to sacrifice it to make this contract happen. Combine that with what BJ Armstrong must be whispering in his ear... I don't think DMo's going to cave in. Even if it's not the most +EV move for him.

There's a reason D'Antoni wants Dmo. He knows personnel very well.

Sad thing, I don´t understand what he is doing and I think it damages the team. DMO has been to the day one of my favorite Rockets, but I can´t support this. At some point, it is what it is.

Except nearly every statistical piece of evidence says otherwise.

Look, you don't have to denounce your D-Mo fan card by saying another player is better. Also you can't just say that the Nuggets will move one of their 4 rotation bigs to make room for Donatas when there is the counter argument that why would the other team trading for X Nuggets big and waste assets when they could just find a way or flat out sign Donatas himself.... since he's a "better player" according to you.

I'm not saying the Nuggets won't sign him, but what i am saying is that paying far more than the Rockets offer for him to be AT BEST 3rd or 4th or 5th in their rotation would be crazy at this point to rationalize.

The thing BJ & D-Mo have been watching is for injuries and underperformance from rotation bigs on other teams to force them to look at D-Mo. The Nuggets are really only a candidate IMO if they see a boom in injuries that will keep several of their bigs out for the year.

I'm at the point where I no longer anticipate his return. It won't really help us where we need help, and there aren't a ton of minutes for him anyway. He'll help, sure, but eh.

I don't fault him for trying to look out for his best interest because any smart person would do the same, but I don't think things have gone how he'd hoped.

I wish him well but expect nothing.

The conspiracy theorist in me says there was some unspoken understanding between Rockets and BJ that Rockets would make a better offer once Bev returns and we release Bobby Brown. This could be because they all know that DMo needs some more rest for his back. So in this scenario, DMo benefits long term because he doesn't get hurt trying to rush back thereby further damaging the perception of his injuryness, and the Rockets benefit (theoretically) by having another guard on the roster while their starter is injured.

But, that's obviously me just making **** up so I'm not counting on that.

That's not true. He's one of the better players at switching on picks. He's not all offense.
