Sounds like you're doubling down now. Tell me why Popovich can't speak on and judge Trump's leadership ability.
He can speak and judge all he wants. I've never questioned that. Read back. Not doubling down. My question is why would anyone care either way.
I'd say people care because Pop's a great leader so he knows a thing or two about it. He can speak much better on leadership and what that means than the vast majority of our population.
What are you talking about? You're the one pushing the notion that Pop isn't qualified to talk on such matters. You could just let it go but you choose to respond. By that logic.... what are you qualified for? What is your opinion qualified for?
Pops is a successful basketball coach and good person from what i know about him. But there are many great leaders out there....I'd venture to say many better than him. Are you going to take all their opinions as gospel as well, or just those that promote your beliefs?
Why the hyperbole? Take it as "gospel"? Isn't it convenient since you have the opposing view, which as been my point.
So is that a mind my own business or stay out if it...I'm leaning towards stay out of it. I'm qualified to have my opinion, teach my classes, coach my team. I've got a few other skills, but you get the idea. Everyone is qualified to have their opinion. Even you. Everyone is qualified to share their opinion. Even you. If you choose to let others think for you, well....Baaaaaa.
The pressures of trying to heal a nation must be getting to you. It's okay man, step back and let someone else carry the load for a while.
Heal = concede? I'm sharing my opinion. I've acknowledged everyone's right to their opinion. I've given more than others opposing my opinion. Can you deny that?
No it's a "you've made a conscious decision to respond to a thread about a man's opinion on Trump" because you don't like what he said. I guess the bolded is where you lost me. Valuing someone's opinion is the same thing as thinking for you?
Am i not allowed to share my opinion? You can value his opinion to your hearts content. I choose to disregard it. Whether he is for or against. Talk team and basketball and im all ears.
Bill Belichick is also a "leader of men", highly respected by his players I assume, and he was evidently a big-time Trump supporter. So I certainly don't think we can say that being a great sports coach implies great political wisdom -- obviously he and Pop can't both be right. That said, when intelligent, thoughtful people have opinions on important matters, I'm interested in hearing them. It doesn't matter if their positions ultimately differ from mine, and it doesn't mean I'll accept whatever they say as truth. But it's potential food for thought. Just dismissing someone else's opinion because of their occupation, to me, makes very little sense.
Why do you share your beliefs here with people you don't know? People use whatever platforms they have to share their views and influence people. That includes politicians, entertainers, Clutchfans posters, Facebook users, etc. If it means so much to him, and he has access to a wide audience, why shouldn't he speak out for his beliefs? If you didn't care about his opinions and its no different than Joe Schmoe off the street, why even take the time to post in this thread? No one makes you read or listen to them.
I'm going to go ahead and repeat myself here. Pops didn't really "serve in the Military," in a manner we usually reserve for that phrase. After graduating from Air Force where he was recruited to play basketball, he toured with the US Military Basketball team for 5 yrs and trained. When done, he was given a coaching job at Air Force. Don't take anything I said here to indicate my stance one way or another on your take or anyone else.
