Credit where credit is due. Those goal-line TD plays we ran yesterday were both perfectly drawn up. Those are the kind of plays I've been waiting for since hearing that BOB is calling plays. Also bringing in Hunt as a spark-plug when Miller was hurt was a great decision.
If you voted "Yes..." Do the rest of us Texans fans a favor, and learn a thing or two about the game of football before opening your mouths.
Proud of everyone keeping their eyes on the prize and not wavering in the face of a few wins over bad teams. We're favored to win 4 of our last 7, with the next one being a true toss-up. The 2 other games we're only minor dogs (40/60 or better). Oakland, @GB, and @IND are going to show the true progress this team has made.
I wonder of these people that voted yes was thinking BOB was that QB whisper. Praising him for what he did with Hoyer, mallet, Fitzpatrick, Yates, weeden, Keenum and whoever else played the spot. And also believe Brock is the answer but feel it BOB is holding him back. I say hell to the **** no.
How can you fire him when we are going to win the Super Bowl this year? http://houseofhouston.com/2016/11/14/bold-prediction-houston-texans-will-make-super-bowl/

Meanwhile, Houston stands out for having a winning record despite ranking 30th in DVOA. (Detroit stands out to a lesser extent, ranked No. 27 with a 5-4 record.) The Texans have the lowest DVOA ever for a team with a winning record through Week 9, while Detroit ranks 10th. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/dvoa-ratings/2016/week-9-dvoa-ratings DVOA PLAYOFF ODDS REPORT AFC South (hard to paste, they give Houston a 40% chance of winning the division) http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/playoffodds
If the Texans turn in another lackluster performance against a superior team Monday night, that'll seal my deal with O'Brien - nothing short of a deep playoff run would change my mind.
If they win a road playoff game... maybe. But not if they beat... 8-8 Baltimore. A deep run would have to include a significant, regime-defining win.
They're sitting at 80%+ odds to win the division right now, so a home game seems likely. Likeliest opponents right now is the #3 team in the AFC West... either KC, Oakland, or Denver. None of those matchups seem particularly fun. We might be dogs in all of them. If they win that, then it's very likely they see *another* AFC West team (#2 overall seed) on the road in the divisional round... which I simply cannot see them winning. So, the most likely outcome for this year is 10 wins and a home loss in the wild card round, and if not, a crushing defeat in the divisional round. The worst case scenario is, obviously, we collapse and miss the playoffs entirely. Hard to imagine with the pillow soft run to the finish line we have set up. Best case scenario... we somehow grab the #2 seed with 10-12 wins as the AFC West cannibalizes itself. Having tiebreakers over Oakland and KC would go a long way toward making that happen. But even then, you're probably still hosting the AFC West champ in the divisional round... not a fun prospect. My big fear is that this team notches 10+ wins, beats a mediocre AFC North/East team in the wildcard round, and everyone poops their pampers thinking this team has turned the corner (including McNair, who gives ol' Billy B a big fat extension), only to get decapitated in the divisional round and then torched by a somehow-not-totally-incompetent AFC South next year.
Has a coach ever been fired after 3 winning seasons, two of which were division-winning seasons? Teams will be lining up to pick him up.
Well, there's almost no chance of that happening, barring a total AFC West collapse. If we had.... '14 Fitzpatrick, no team in the AFC would truly scare me, other than, obviously, New England. Denver and Kansas City are tough match-ups on the road - but they both start mediocre (and in Denver's case, inexperienced) QBs so I'd take my chances. As is, neither Alex Smith nor Trevor Siemian scares me at Reliant. Unfortunately, Brock Osweiler scares me *everywhere* so I put our chances at virtually zero to do anything beyond win a mediocre AFC South. I was really hoping to see some improvement off the bye week - but I've essentially extinguished any hope that he can be anything more than a stay-out-of-the-way QB riding a great defense and effective running game. Having said that, BOB has too often proven to be "cute" and tries to outsmart himself so I can see him trying to fool a team by having Osweiler throw it 50 times and us losing 348790-0. I kind of want everyone gone - Smith, O'Brien, Osweiler...
Sure; John Fox in Denver, coming off 12-4, 13-3,13-3 seasons and four consecutive trips to the playoffs and a conference championship. Closer to home - how about Jerry Glanville?
That's true, although he wasn't technically fired right? His contract ended and neither side seemed to want to continue the relationship
I don't think too many NFL people will be scratching their heads if the Texans win another weak AFC South with 9 wins before their annual first-round exit from the postseason. Sure, O'Brien would like get offers... but I don't think too many people would see his firing as an egregious mistake. He spent three years tripping over himself trying to find/develop a QB and failed miserably.
