Look on the brightside Rockets were sitting at 8th seed and .500 several times in 2016, and turned the corner thrice.
My wife lost her dog, her grandparents, had surgery twice, her nephew was killed, and she got diagnosed with Lyme disease and three of her favorite artists were Prince, Bowie, and Leonard Cohen. To top it all off, she might be getting laid off! But hey, The Raiders are 7-2 and Radiohead and Bon Over was dope. I try to Silver Linings playbook **** these days. Nothing a good toke, Zoloft, and a shitload of nicotine won't fix.
Sorry to to hear about your wife's year - I will keep your family in my prayers. Seems like our troubles are similar these days. One grandfather died of cancer, and the other one is currently in the hospital. My dad got laid off. My sister has had chronic Lyme disease for years now, and it's awful. Hopefully they diagnosed your wife early. Praying and doing my best to support the rest of my family is what gets me through everything. The fact that the election is over, and basketball is here certainly helps too.
Worst year of my 36 no doubt. Lost my job, mom got laid off, going through a brutally ugly divorce and custody battle, and just for an additional kick in the nuts my hot water heater just broke. **** 2016.
2016 is amazing. Best election ever. Gas is dirt cheap. Campus carry got started. SpaceX rockets proves they are no where close to being man capable. Hulk Hogan destroyed Gawker.
My heater broke too. Man those plumber think they run the world. You have to bend to their schedule which and they don't even show up on time.
I think mid-2015 to mid-2016 was progressively more ****ed up. That unemployed black reporter who killed some old co-worker on live TV, said he was finally tipped over the edge by the Dylan Roof shooting from a couple of months earlier, then Paris and San Bernadino happening within weeks of each other. The Travyon Martin aftermath reaching a peak two years later with the reporting of just about every officer shooting or incident with a black civilian, and of course all of the campus protests and disruptions including the Mizzou homecoming and football player boycott. And then in June that nightclub shooting in Orlando: individuals seeming to just stew and brew for months and then spontaneously combusting into short bursts of mass violence. It's seems like it's about as close to the late '60s to mid '70s as it's ever been. I know it's partly Gen-X nostalgia but I keep going back to the late '90s thinking everything was set once the Cold War ended and we could expect progressively more stability and prosperity in the U.S.: that our biggest problems would be perpetually mediating Israel, debating whether to intervene in Haitis or Rwandas, and arguing about taxes and Social Security.
joey boots, one of howard stern's wackpackers, infamous for screaming "baba booey" during live news broadcast, died recently too
The most meh year of all time. Sucks for anyone born or graduating in 2016. The worst election of all time of course resulting in the worst president of all time. The worst Christmas/winter weather I've ever seen in Houston. The weather has sucked hard this year, and it started with all of the floods in March. 2016, the year of taketh.
