Excuse.....Excuse....Excuse. It's time to man up and own it. The black population has many successful men and women who do not fit the norm. They did not make excuses on the way to the top. I'm not supplying ignorance, that is presicely what you are doing. Abortion=legal mar1juana=illegal Make the right choices. A better means of life is not going to be given to anyone. Work for it.
You have no clue what you are talking about. Your #1 mistake is thinking that an individual person's ability to solve their specific micro-level issue isn't hindered by the macro-level problems that I just listed out. They go hand in hand just like everything in life. Fix the problems I presented and all of a sudden you will see more individual people making better decisions. Linear relationship, you work to solve issues on BOTH fronts simultaneously, that's how progress is made the fastest.
I do get it. I've been through my low points thinking the world would be handed to me. Only when my work ethic changed did I become more successful. That same rule applies to everyone. Being black is an excuse for not being where you need to be. Changes need to be made in some parts of the black culture/statistics for them to rise. That's the cold hard truth.
I don't care about your personal anecdotes. Societal level hindrances contribute to individual problems. You're focusing on the individual problems too much. Telling people to work harder is missing the point completely. The government is not responsible for telling individual people to work harder. The government is responsible for clearing societal level hindrances. Let's focus on acknowledging and understanding these hindrances. Why is that so hard?
FIFY. Your post goes both ways. Why did all these Trumpers vote for a p***y grabber instead of fixing up their own "work ethic"? We know white America is hurting: cowboy up and quite whining! Don't vote for a racist when it's your own damn fault. Get some work ethic, Trumpers! He's not gonna hand anything to you on a silver platter!
This election was a complete 180 from the "personal responsibility" mantra of just 4-8 years ago. Not a lot of producers vs takers talk..... Seems maybe Obama was on to something.
“Don’t criticize them; they are just what we would be under similar circumstances." - Honest Republican Abe
Oh... is it not 2012? The working class seems to flip flop on the issue.... So is it a still a takers vs producers thing or is the system rotten? We will soon see how the GOP feels about lot of public spending when it's one of their own after railing against for 8 years....
I really would like to see a more recent poll, as this poll was from 2003. But these action are obviously wrong. Shooting from the hip...kind of busy today. Texas is a robin hood state. Rich districts are required to share monies with low income districts to keep public education equal. http://tea.texas.gov/Finance_and_Gr...Equalization/Chapter__41_Wealth_Equalization/ This article is set in Pennsylvania, a blue state since 1992, but it does mention that there are other states that have this segregation problem. I wish this article would have shown which states have this problem. This is a multilayered situation, but I see state's dissemination of funding as the problem. However, this is not a racism issue. Funding was not cut because there were not enough white people at those schools. Now that Pennsylvania is a red state, I'm curious if there will be a change in states policy of equality in school funding. (Note) As for governorship of Penn, 87-95-Blue... 95-2003-red...03-11-blue...11-15-red..15-current-blue However, I still say personal accountability will make the difference between success and failure in education.
but I never said that personal accountability did not matter or does not make a difference. I've been harping the whole time that societal level hindrances influence individual people's decisions. You have to argue against what I'm saying. You can either try to say that those societal level hindrances don't exist (in which case I am very confident that I can prove you wrong based on studies done over time) or you can say that outside influences don't impact individual people in any way. Anyone who understands what I am saying and believes that I am correct, but still says that racism is just an excuse, is wrong.
Societal Hindrances DO exist, and the individual should be accountable for making the best of the situation, while the government should work to make sure those hindrances don't exist. It's an excuse for those who don't hold themselves accountable for their reactions to their situations. If you think its ok for a kid to be a turd because he's poor, you are an enabler.
It's good then that I don't think that way and have never said anything of that sort. It's great that we're on the same page now. If only the Republican party can acknowledge the same thing. You can't work to fix problems genuinely if you don't admit that they exist. When people can't see this, they are either racist or willfully ignorant. Then it gets annoying when they say that they aren't racist.
It's an "if-the-shoe-fits" statement Well, I'm not republican party, and I'm sure as hell not racist.
