What decision would you make if you were Bill, and Brock continued to display less than mediocre performance and we started losing games?

I am hoping this doesn't happen, and we give him the chance to lead, improve, and keep winning. If that doesn't happen though, and we start losing because of his mistakes, I still don't want to see him benched this year. I'm sure Savage could do better, but I personally want to see Brock given the full year to prove himself, and not cut our losses too quickly. After that though, let the best man win that position next year, even if Brock is getting paid a lot of money to sit on the bench.

Did you not hear BOB's post game press conference? They don't care about stats

I guess I should have worded that differently. I meant what would you do if you were coach.

Bill's job sort of depends on Brock succeeding. He wanted him here

    Tank.

Claim mysterious injuries to Hopkins, Mercilus, and Lamar Miller. I, as the coach, wouldn't get fired because I can blame it on the injuries. Fire or demote Godsey, hire a better assistant coach and draft you a new rookie for next year.

I assure that is true. Too bad Rick's job is safe regardless of how this pans out.

Nor should they. An ugly win is a win. All that matters at the end of the day is the win-loss record, and Texans fans need to wake up to that fact. Call me crazy, but I'd happily take a Super Bowl Championship ala last year's Broncos - who won the Super Bowl with less than 200 yards of total offense.

"Ugly" offenses to win in recent years:
    • 2000 Baltimore
    • 2002 Tampa Bay
    • 2007 New York Giants
    • 2016 Denver Broncos
As the Texans head coach, Bill O'Brien is 24-17 for a .585 win percentage - all with well below average QB play. If and when Brock finally "gets it," which he could, the sky is the limit. Either way, our defense is good enough to keep us in the game.

I think far too many Texans fans overlook our decimated offensive line, and the lack of Will Fuller being on the field... any way too many have no clue how the game of football works in the first place. Just take a look at the early "hype" of Philadelphia and the Vikings - both of which have come back down to reality. The NFL season is a war of attrition, and the playoffs are all about staying healthy, and getting hot at the right time.

The Texans have also beaten the Chiefs, and the Lions - two first place teams.

My question was an if.......we start losing. I wasn't talking about if we keep winning, which I hope we do.

Those teams had defense that rivaled the 85 bears and a run game (2002 bucs and 2000 Ravens). Well I don't remember the 2007 Giants but What I do remember was Eli being big time come the playoffs and that pass rush in the Super Bowl. And Clearly Tom Coughlin had the Patriots/Brady's number. Well with that said the Texans defense is not that great it's damn good but not great.

If your BOB you have to roll with Brock the rest of this season plus half of the next. When Brock still sucks next year you can give Savage his chance. But your just stuck with Brock for now

You realize the Texans are the 4th ranked defense in the league, right? And that is WITHOUT Watt, KJ, and Joseph and Jackson both missing huge amounts of time.

But JJ is not coming back and you need JJ to have your defense be that great.

JJ barely contributed this year, and they've suffered even more injuries - yet still are 4th. If they can stay healthy in the secondary, they can be great. We need Wilfork to get healthy too. People hate on Kareem, and he and Joseph both had pretty bad second halfs yesterday - but with those two healthy, we have one of the best secondaries in the league. Especially with Bouye being the highlight of the defense thus far. Our secondary's best attribute is likely their tackling skills. We've also gotten huge bumps in play from McKinney and Simon... and if Clowney and Mercilus get hot again, we'll be unstoppable.

Romeo Crennel's scheme is what makes this team great, just as much as the personnel.

I think the true test will be against Oakland. I would love nothing more than to see our defense shut them down.

I guess great is not the word I want use for those teams... let's see other worldly or HoF or one of the greatest defense to take the NFL field. I'm not taking down on the defense and said that it is damn good so stop being hypersensitive. Now when I say you need JJ to be that type defense I'm saying you take the defense that played last year, which was better, and add the improved play of Clowney, McKinney, Simon and most importantly Bouye you would have that defense but you won't have JJ, the best pass rusher in the game and a guy that gets so much attention that he can make others look better.

Our offense should have some success against their defense too, as they are ranked 28th in overall defense. They are 21st in rushing defense, which is huge for us. If we get a decent ground game going that opens up the play action pass - which should buy Brock a lot more time than he is used to thanks to our terrible right side of the line.

I think our defense this year, even without Watt, is better because of our tremendous improvement in play from linebackers and the secondary. Of course I'd rather have Watt and KJ in there as well, but the improvements in other areas are why we are performing like we are. I think our defense has the ability to shut down any team, with the exception of New England (their TEs would eat all of our linebackers not named McKinney alive).

If we stay healthy, our defense is good enough to win a Super Bowl - if we can get solid offensive play (mainly average 110-130 yards per game rushing).
