It's tragic for a number one draft pick to be injured his rookie and soph year. I'm not a Blazer fan or anything like that but although he is not a part of our team, I would like every player (especially the youngins) to develop their potential. I enjoy watching Durant play because he is fulfilling his NBA dream. Although he has a lot of injuries, he is a fundamentally-sound center when active in the court. He is still young, a lot will still happen in his career, I wouldn't call him a bust in this point in time. Also, what the heck is his penis doing in this discussion? Assuming that the ones discussing are guys, don't you have your own? Just kidding folks:p

premiere? As in All-Stars? Durant is the only true star from that draft. But I'm pretty sure it's safe to say the Blazers would have been better off with any of these guys: Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Rodney Stuckey, Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry and Marc Gasol.

As for the topic on hand - if Oden continues to suffer injuries he's undoubtedly a bust. And that's unfortunate because it's through no fault of his own.

even at this point carl landry is a much better option than greg oden as a draft pick, landry has yet to sustain any major injuries; greg oden is very similar to yao in terms of injury prone; he is younger than yao but yet has had as many severa injuries as yao has had in his career!!!

Greg Oden: 'I'll be remembered as the biggest bust in NBA history'

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Former No. 1 overall pick Greg Oden said this week he'll be remembered as the "biggest bust in NBA history."

The 7-foot Oden is currently taking classes toward his degree and is a student assistant coach at Ohio State, where he spent one season in college before being drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the first overall pick in 2007.

"I'll be remembered as the biggest bust in NBA history," Oden told Outside the Lines. "But I can't do nothing about that."

Oden also reiterated that his playing days were over.

"Don't get me wrong," Oden said. "If I was healthy, I would love to continue playing, but I'm not healthy."

Oden previously had told Sports Illustrated that he was "one of the biggest busts in NBA history" and that "it would only get worse as Kevin Durant continues doing big things."

Oden, 28, played just 82 games in five seasons with the Blazers. After missing his entire rookie season because of microfracture surgery on his right knee, he was averaging 11.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in 2009-10 when he broke his left kneecap. Oden had two more microfracture knee surgeries -- both on his left knee -- in his injury-plagued career.

Oden last played in the NBA in 2014 with the Miami Heat, averaging 2.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 26 games. He spent last season playing in China.

I think so, only because he really was supremely talented. That drop step of his was something to behold for a couple years.

Technically he's a bust. But that's because of injuries, so I don't hold that against him. It's not like he didn't have the talent to make it in the NBA.

    Also, if I were the Blazers, I wouldn't ever draft a 7 footer #1 again! ;)

Bust is a tough word. It wasn't that his play was crap...he just couldn't stay healthy. So not totally his fault...

I can't imagine how emotionally and mentally wounded he must have been a couple years ago. Knowing your one of the biggest busts in nba history. Instead of playing in the NBA, you're going back to school. I must say right now he's probably moved on mentally but, it'll probably haunt him for the rest of his life. Wish him the best of luck.

WtH No! How can you be a Bust when you Good? The guy put up productive numbers. This healthy isn't his fault. The word Bust is a really negative word. It implies he is a failure. He is not. If not for injuries he showed he had All Star talent

He certainly was. Dude could get a double-double in like 12 minutes and the stats/records show that. The left shoulder jump hook and the right shoulder drop step were way beyond his years, and he had the knack for protecting the rim.

His numbers in the first 20 games of his Sophomore year before he got hurt were scary...

He is a bust, IMO, just not in the typical sense. His talent wasnt a bust, I agree. But as a impactful NBA player, sure he is.

To say otherwise would be to say that DMO's 2016 season so far is a success. Its not his fault (choke, cough) that he is not playing.
