Those were replacements for liberal justices, the previous justices would have voted for it as well and the court still had a conservative majority.....but I guess since he REALLY hasn't done anything positive as president, I guess we can cut him some slack and give him partial credit here just to be nice.

We should also give Ronald Reagan credit for it as well I suppose.

Sure.....after raising it MORE THAN 500 BILLION DOLLARS the year before! Thank god they didn't continue raising spending by 500 billion dollars a year.

It was their budget, they drew it up, it was their votes that passed it.....but I guess I should blame others for some reason because you don't want to admit that it was their fault.....or you want to blame the financial crisis for them jacking up spending by more than a half trillion dollars in just one year.

So you're gonna Baghdad Bob this one? LOL fair enough.

Should we call them "unintentional inaccuracies"? For whatever reason, you just REALLY want to think of Obama as a good president despite evidence to the contrary. To the point where you are willing to give him credit for things other people do just to have something, anything to praise him for. It's pretty sad. Hell you'll even praise him for things that were a disaster just to have something to point to that he did.

I guess I shouldn't have expected more from an Obama fanboy.

The Republicans' strategy for Scalia's replacement was enormously risky and basically left scorched earth in its wake. Had Hillary won, she probably would have nominated a justice further left than Sotomayor or Ginsburg. Now, Trump and the GOP can stack the Court with Republican justices for a generation. Incredible.

Amazingly risky, but it paid off. Ginsburg is REALLY hoping she lives 4 more years because you know she doesn't want Trump to name her replacement but she'll be a few months away from 84 when Trump is sworn in and has looked frail for a decade already.

If Hilary won they could have theoretically have blocked it for 4 years. Supreme Court has gone up and down over time.

Would have been nearly impossible, especially if there were more vacancies in that time.

I think Supreme Court will be fine. Don't forget, Trump is a NYC Democrat despite his current party affiliation.

Except... he already provided his Supreme Court justice list. Unless you think that was a lie too.

I am guessing you are questioning whether Trump himself created the list, or one of his handlers did. But this list, along with the earlier list he floated out, definitely provide a clear insight into the people and political leanings when it comes to USSC nominees.

Funny that Mike Lee was on both lists. Here's what Mike Lee thought about Trump and getting on his list:

Agreed. Republicans have been totally vindicated -- at least on the basis of political victories -- in their policy of 8 years of obstruction. They managed to convince half the country we needed an 'outsider' because Washington was broken. They managed to force most of the progress of the Obama Administration into reversible executive orders. And, they managed to hold out long enough on the Supreme Court appointment to keep it for themselves. Total domination.

I don't think Clinton would have put very liberal justices, though they'd probably be left of Garland anyway. Clinton herself is pretty centrist.

I'll take no solace there. I don't believe Trump is any kind of democrat regardless of any past affiliation. And he's got an incredible conservative mandate right now. His base and allies will be crying blood if he doesn't take this opportunity to find the youngest, most conservative judge that can show enough resume to justify the office. To do otherwise would be like settling for a layup in the All Star Game when you could have dunked it.

Maybe. If Dems took the Senate, which looked possible when people thought Clinton would win, they'd have no problem getting appointments. Even without the majority though, holding out for 4 years would be hard.

Yet again the Democrats were stupid, lazy, arrogant and were outflanked by the Republications.
They didn't think they would lose . . .. so they figured they could just wait them out . . . BONK!!!!
