This thread to me represents why democrats lost. you think throwing a tantrum and calling people racist and stupid is compelling? Just want to point out Obama has been president over the 2010, 2014, and 2016 elections. some of the worst in history for Democrats.
Stop with the bitterness. I'm dissapointed but if you believe in democracy we have to accept that the will of the people have spoken for better or worse. I will take Trump at his word that he wants the best for his country and he wants to unleash the creativity of this country. As such I am ready to help out as much as I can. I know many of you are sad and angry but remeber tomorrow we still live with each other.
I fully know, shows how stupid uneducated voters are (see Trump, Germany's AfD, Erdogan, Brexit, etc). Democracy needs an overhaul.
How about not putting words into my mouth. Recent developments in world politics have clearly shown that aggressive propaganda, fearmongering and appealing to uneducated people is a formular for success, and that in itself is quite dangerous. I think that Trump will do an okay job, but seeing someone with his background and comments win shows you how irrational people can be. I'm seeing it in Germany, AfD is basically Nazi party 2.0 and some of its leaders are using Nazi rhetorics, still it works and they are hovering at around 20% of votes. This just shouldn't happen in a sensitized and educated world that has seen what can happen when hate wins.
I think because it has been a long while till people had to actually fight for their right to vote or live in a time of a junta and war, our generation takes it for granted. The young "educated" don't go to vote. They have better things to do because "nothing will change anyway". Until the pandora's box is opened and things do change.
Yes. We understand now. We have to treat our country's bigots with respect or else they'll massively turnout to vote for a man with the knowledge and maturity of a 15 year old redditor.
