Who knows at this point? That's another day and I don't know how much a 70 yr old man would want to unleash such a terrible ambition to ruin not only his name but also his country's. Frankly, I'm more concerned about Pence's scope and powers in a Trump presidency.
I agree. I just see that, historically, people don't generally get a solid finger on the nature of their economic distress and connect more with nationalist rhetoric than with policy speak. Trump spoke to their anxiety while speaking to their nationalism: "take our country back", otherizing people not in the identity group. It isn't nationalism for the sake of nationalism. It is other worldly problems channeled into nationalism and tribalism. And, yes, Trump made it feel acceptable for people to harbor feelings society deemed deplorable. That is why his embrace of white nationalism matters so much. Neither McCain nor Romney would play that card against Obama. Trump played the card. Hard. And not against a candidate. But for the people in that nation. That has far more salience than policy speak. And in the context of media reporting that constantly reports in terms of us-verus-them (and a political party that frames everything that way), it would be easy for a wanna-be strongman like Trump to step in. Regarding the media, yeah, that is a good point. Supposedly there are people out there who didn't hear every Trump stump speech and don't believe he has said many of the things he his recorded as stating. It's weird to me. But it is what it is. Now, provided the victory is confirmed, a Trump presidency will have to produce policy. Will be... interesting.
This statement alone is what makes you ignorant. I am a physician...The Trump's base is more than just "uneducated college" white males...it includes minorities, women, hispanics and blacks(basically many minorities groups), who are tired of being scammed by liberal leadership. But Trump is gonna send shock waves through both political parties. Yes...Trump is a wildcard...and hopefully he truly does find a way to bridge the gap we have in our American societies...Clinton just brings status quo...and it is evident from the American people that it is something they no longer want.
This country will be in shock tomorrow. I think a large majority of those voting for Trump didn't want to admit to anyone that they would be voting for him. Out of fear that they would be labelled a racist. Or a womanizer. Or a pedophile. Or a hypocrite. Or any of the other adjectives you could use to describe Trump. Anonymity. It was the winner of the election. It also made pollsters look like huge losers.
If you go back months ago, early in the primaries, early polling showed Clinton losing to all candidates. It also showed Bernie destroying all candidates (Republican). This was before the polling got very unpredictable. One of the reasons why some predicated a Trump win was they were looking at the energy levels of support. Trumps rallies were off the wall and Clintons felt like a graveyard. Bernie had a very very strong base and respect of most people. The complete opposite of Trump and Clinton. I think deep down, I think democrats know this ... but refuse to believe their own party screwed them over and propped up a wall street puppet instead. They gambled.
Why would Republicans not go along with him? He won. It seems like we went crazy anti immigration reform and was rewarded. So I don't see Republicans really refusing anything Trump wants. They certainly didn't take the strongest stand against him during the primary. I doubt they would all of a sudden take a stand now that his rhetoric and policy ideas were rewarded. I don't really know. Historically the market always comes back stronger eventually. If you are close to retirement the dip in the stock market is horrible. It will deplete your savings. If you are a long way from retirement it's generally good, because it only means you'll get more shares for the money you put into it. Since there is no clue what policies will actually come from a Trump white house, there is no way to know how the market will react. We do know that NASDAQ and S&P have had the automatic emergency break and stop in trading take effect because they've lost the 5% that triggers that emergency safety measure.
Lol @ you trying to give more credit to your party's voter base as if they wouldn't have elected this maniac over anyone else.
