This is very important - good positional defense is better than someone that can jump through the roof - DMo is our bigs version of Shane Battier.

Used to be. We have very little idea what he is NOW. He had a very rough recovery season and hasn't played for 7 months after that. Since the time DMo was big version of Battier, he went on 10 months surgery/rehab without basketball period, then super rough 5 months of playing bad, rehabing some more, playing better/ok in glimpses then 7 months without basketball and counting. He's not going to be the same he was 2 years ago, because for 2 years he was through so much with so little basketball experience. One thing for sure, he's not going to return better than before, he's unlikely returning same as pre injury, most likely he's coming back worse. Only question how much worse. And how much longer can his back hold.

In before "Dekker made DMo obsolete" thread

I agree that DMo would help on defense and rebounding. But you know I hate these stats.

I want to point out that Center stats are very much different than Forward stats, for whatever reason. The worst PF Rim Protecting rating is 50% right now. DMo's 47.1% last year (which was all PF), would put him in the bottom 4th of the list ... 3/4ths of the forwards have better. (For players with > 100 minutes so far.) And Terrence Jones is at 42.9% rim protection, right now. Lebron Jones is at the very bottom of the league.

Let's just say DMo is a valued defender. But these defensive stats like Rim Protection are sketchy to use. Anything that puts Lebron Jones at worst Forward in the league is questionable to use.

He also had a good game every other month, that really boosted his value to where he got a league minimum

That's actually not true, it's just that the lowest that showed up on the page was 50%, I pointed out a 20 million dollar a year PF on the roster that was over 70% at the rim.

The point is that DMo is better than both Nene and Ryan Anderson when it comes to defense at the rim even if we don't look at what the numbers say.

Regardless of stats, where is Dmo?
I would think he would have signed the day that the new offer was made.
He's really showing himself to be both greedy and foolish at the same time.
The offseason should have already provided proof to him and his agent that he is not in demand in the NBA
He's not endearing himself to the fans (at least not THIS one)

    I agree.

Numbers aren't worth looking at. They appear different for Forwards than Centers. Dwight is at a 52.4% right now. Dwight was only slightly better than Beasley last year. Another good litmus test I've used in the past is Yoakim Noah throughout the years.

btw: Terrence Jones was a 46.8% two years ago in the WCF year.

Foolish maybe, but greedy idk. He wants to get paid what he thinks he's worth. That's not greedy. If you felt like you should be paid x amount of money to perform job x would you go perform it for a lesser value if you didn't have to?

Expect DMo to wait until 11/23 to reach agreement. The reason to wait is if one of our bigs gets a major injury, DMo will have leverage and get paid more.

Why were else is he going to play? He is a Rocket whether he likes it or not. He needs time play himself into shape before the transferred line.

Who said it was a new offer?

This reads like the Rockets are "LEAKING" the offer as a PR stunt.

Doesn't have to be a new offer. It could just be about that deadline being communicated for the first time. Although I think the word "latest" by Stein is referring to change to the offer, as well....ie. the part about incentives.

    As for who leaked it:

The leak came immediately with a quote from DMo saying Europe is and always has been on the table. Thus, more likely the leak came from BJ and DMo to let the market know what the offer is, and the first public threat of Europe. They'd not release earlier, because it's usually best to keep the market guessing....and again, the urgency of the deadline could have prompted the leak.

Suppose Morey could have leaked it too. Not sure the motivation, though, SnTs aren't allowed. PR stunts seem to be more when fans/media are demanding answers ... usually star players, no? Fans and media don't seem to really care that much about what's going on with DMo, compared to DeAndre Hopkins, for instance.

Did it even stir up talk on the radio, or much news about in the Chron?? Don't think the casual fan is following NBA news on twitter.

Am I incorrect that the Rockets upped the ante and threw more money on the table?
Is that not a new and different offer than what they had originally been riding for so long?

You'll note that I replied to someone else talking about a non-DMo issue. I would think that you'd appreciate me keeping my TJones fantasy comments in this thread rather than creating a new thread in the Dish about his fantasy basketball competence.

    Spare me your condescension. Thanks.

I will note nothing. Evidence is right here, good sir! You doth not get spared for no condescension! You doth receive extra condescension, good sir! No one know nothing of your fantasy, good sir! Keepth your replies within the confines of good sir-dom! Quoteth your challenger or face a good chewing, dear sire!

Dmo is just peed that Ryno is making 20 million and the Rockets can't offer him a lot more. I think he feels under valued from the Rockets organization, especially when they tried to trade him and it got voided.

I don't think I've ever had a better reply in my entire history of replying. That was solid.

Season is now 10% over and honestly I have no idea what Dmo is doing anymore.

Better deals aren't coming. He is doing nothing for himself by holding out.

    Sign the non-guaranteed deal already.
