Yao was real, you know he was speaking from his heart not lying behind tweets to higher beings. Maybe Les wanted to market Lin like he was Yao, but the biggest problem was that he was not Yao on any level.
You can't ignore his time with the Lakers if you're going to shove this Lin-without-a-star stuff down my throat. He basically had a full year of not playing with a star (minus the games Kobe actually played) and he was terrible. His team was terrible. My records I listed were Lin w/o Harden. Harden covered up his weakness which is losing. A lot. Let's see how he does this year. I'm guessing he'll lose his starting spot.
I'm not shoving anything down your throat. Just having a conversation. If you feel like it's being shoved down your throat, that's on you, not me. Not sure you followed what happened in LA that year, but Lin (who was originally signed to back up Steve Nash, but was thrust into the starting lineup mid-way thru preseason without ever having practiced with the starters after Nash was lost to injury) started the first 20 games with Kobe. Then he was dropped to the 2nd unit and didn't play significant minutes with the starters. And yes, he didn't play all that well, but the signs were all there for everyone to see that Byron Scott was trying to tank...in preseason, the best chemistry on the team was the Lin-Ed Davis pick-and-roll, but Byron didn't put them on the court together until after the All-Star break...and when that led to Lin playing the PnR really well, Byron told Lin that he didn't want the team to play PnR until the 4th quarter. And Lin is a high-pace, up-tempo player, yet he gets paired with guys like Boozer who are slow, half-court players. Lin without Harden...as a starter? Or overall? He had a winning record with the Knicks and Charlotte, and as a starter without Harden/Melo/Walker is even better, so you are basically saying that his time with the Lakers defines his career without Harden. Seriously?
He might not post like a chicken on fire like Hayes, but they have the same brain. yoeddy has admitted he's not a Rockets fan. So he's not pulling a charade that I'm from Hong Kong, now Australia fake Rockets fan who only gets mad when you criticize Jeremy Lin instead of questioning his Rockets fandom. They are all an insult to the reason why this board was built. There was a Lin thread before he joined the Rockets and that was fine cause we were amongst Rockets fans. We can make it happen again.
What's worse is that some of them probably think they're fighting racism by sticking around. This is not an issue of race. Everyone loves Yao, but doesn't like Lin. Racism and racists can suck a big one, but being a minority doesn't mean you are likable or great at something. Lin has to learn what the bigger picture is, but he's stuck on just making in the NBA instead of having a successful NBA career. He got the break of a lifetime during his hot shooting of the Linsanity period. All he had to do was ride the wave, but he wanted the limelight. That's his downfall, thinking he's bigger than he is. And his fans are the same. Bunch of friggin Harvard alum... You think you can argue your way into being right when this is an issue of talent and team concepts. He's got a grasp of one but not the other. This ain't TENNIS!!!! Just do what it takes to win! It's okay to leave Clutchfans if you don't like the Rockets. There are forums for every team. Or why not just become loyal to something like a franchise? The Rockets paid to have a team haul Lin away. Why on Earth would you want to go to the forum of the team that did that? Clearly they don't like your guy. You can't argue your way into the Clutchfan heart, we are diehards. LOFs, this is not a good home for you. Stay a LOF. I will respect you for that, but I can't respect the fact that you can't just move on and enjoy his career. Move on, we don't love you. We never did. #TOUGHLOVE This reminds me of a Bible verse, but I have self respect and respect for others so I won't preach on the interwebs. (p.s. You're welcome to stay here if you don't have a home, but I hope you convert to Rockets' First Fans) (pp.s. I don't actually have the last word. I'm a peon in the grand scheme of CF.net)
I watched almost every Lakers game the year Jeremy played on it. Didn't watch much last year, but they were even worse in Byron's second year from what I saw. West coast teams are difficult for me to watch because I'm on the east coast and the games finish pretty late. I watched almost every Rockets game the two years Jeremy was on the team, plus many many more when Yao was on the team. Watched them in the playoffs when they made the WCF, but not much after that. Why?
I'm fine with all of that. But your notion that Lin is a loser because his record without Harden is poor is just flat out wrong. I'm trying to keep the conversation about basketball.
This got to be the biggest joke thread on ClutchFans...lol Why is there so much interest on a player that is not with our team for over 3 seasons now?
I really don't believe Yao fans suddenly joined Clutchfans after Jeremy Lin left the Rockets. That makes zero sense. We had YOFs, we know them very well. I think Lin fans suddenly became Yao fans cause it's an easier way to say they belong here. Yet they aren't arguing about the injustices that happened to Yao and how Yao got benched for... Oh wait, Yao never got benched , he was a starter and an All Star, he's nothing like Lin Lies all of them
I explained it in my post: "Didn't watch much last year, but they were even worse in Byron's second year from what I saw. West coast teams are difficult for me to watch because I'm on the east coast and the games finish pretty late." Jeremy only played for the Lakers 1 season, so when I said "Byron's second year", I was referring to the year after Jeremy left. My apologies if that was unclear.
tinman enjoys the conversation about Lin. He's really the main reason I am here. Hard to find others who are so interested in Lin.
