He can score in a variety of ways, he can defend and can create his own shot off the dribble. Huge over a declining Ariza.

Gay puts up numbers but they aren't winning numbers

If thompson keeps stinking it up - send them Capela and ariza for Klay. Play Klay at sg. Pick up a Center like Reggie Evans who does nothing but rebound the ball. Make a move for chandler if we have salary and assets.

    PG - Harden
    SG - Thompson
    SF - McDaniels
    PF - Anderson
    C - Chandler

He would need to be playing this bad because he has been taking bath salts before every game.. otherwise no way GSW trades him after a small slump.

I know - it's a massive if. But he doesn't look happy and he's become the fourth option. Golden state have no rebounding and no interior defense, sell them on the combo of Capela and Ariza. I reckon if klay keeps it up they may bite.

Losing the defense Ariza brings in exchange for Gay's scoring would be a wash. We need to obtain him without losing any of our key guys.

Also Ariza seems to always get hot in the 4th, even tonight he hit a 3 that gave you a waitaminute moment. Gay is a ball stopper and not a worthy one at that.

Well he's a better player than Brewer no doubt, leagues better...but Ariza I'm not so sure about that. I think Ariza is a player that often finds himself on winning teams for a reason and Gay is on the opposite side of that for a reason as well.

Guy is playing with Cousins, still can't make the playoffs.

I'd do it without that 1st rounder, but we need to keep our 1st to build up the team.

He puts up PPG, so he must be good right?

Of course he has only finished the season with a winning team twice in his whole career. And the 2 teams he was with got much better after trading him. But how important is contributing to wins anyhow, it's all about that PPG.

You're right. It's pretty obvious the right move here is trading our best defender for more iso offense.

EDIT: Oh AND a first rounder. Yup, let's forget getting young talent and forget the possibility of needing a first rounder in a sign and trade this summer. Oh wait, we won't have cap space so no sign and trades. But no worries, we'd have Rudy Gay because Eric Gordon annoyed OP in game 5 of the regular season and he doesn't think Morey is a draft wizard like him.

Meh. Gay is a guy I would take for Brewer or for free. No way I start trading worthwhile assets for him.

Morey can't draft worth a crap, specially when he has a lottery pick on hand.
Unanimously, everybody wanted Leonard over Marcus Morris. Even Vucevic was mention numerous times. Secondly, Bobby Portis was mention before Dekker. Even his hometown Milwaukee pass him up. Harrell was a solid pick giving it was a 2nd Rd pick. Can't really blame Darnell for that. But a good GM has to be great on drafting by finding good talent through the draft.

Rudy would give you another guy who can get his own shots and also he is likely going to opt out which means you would have a good chunk of money coming off the books.

But really, the elephant in the room is a Rhyno.

Gordon or no Gordon, I'm really starting to hate that move. The only thing he does well is shoot. Next to a young guy like Capela you need another big that can at least help him out some.

No a good GM doesn't necessarily have to be great at drafting. That's just something you made up cause that's how you're feeling right now. 15 teams passed on Kawhi Leonard. The only comparable talents to Leonard from that draft is Kyrie Irving at #1 and Klay Thompson at #11. Some other picks: Burks at #12, Fredette at #10, Vesely at #6, Enes Kanter at #3, DERRICK WILLIAMS AT #2. Is everyone an idiot except the one who did what you happened to predict correctly? That's if you have any proof that you believed Kawhi was a top 3 talent in the draft, which I'm certain you didn't.

A "good" GM can be "good" at drafting. A great GM is great at drafting, and Morey's best skill is not drafting players. If you ask fans about their own teams, I'm sure you'll find 99% of them think their GM is bad at drafting. Morey is pretty good at drafting because on average we get mediocre players with mediocre picks. That's the bottom line.

Secondly, MOREY DRAFTED RUDY GAY and traded him WITH a useless contract for Shane Battier. This was a godly trade on Morey's part, understanding that people are overvaluing Gay and acquired an incredible piece in Battier while getting rid of Stromile Swift who the league had not yet realized was useless. To add to that, Portis' rookie season is indistinguishable from Dekker's current season. Nothing has happened to prove Portis is better. There is no indication that he's better. It is not more likely he'll have a better career. Nothing. If your criteria for how Morey should have done is for Dekker to - this season - have the same season Portis had last season, we are more than ahead of that trajectory right now.

MOST importantly, any logical human being would rather have a top 15 draft pick than Rudy Gay right now. That's why he's still a Sacramento King. Gay is overpaid to do what Morey can sign for a couple of pennies out of China during his lunch break.

You are reacting emotionally and in the process rewriting history and randomly projecting the future. Take a chill pill and stop overreacting to a loss to Atlanta, a better team than us at this point in time 5 games into this coach's Rocket career, 5 games into Harden being an official starting PG, 5 games into us trying to build from mediocre talent into a team with chemistry.
