It may or may not be. But if he's settled in to his spot, he may not want the job. I'm hoping we can get him though.

Another dark day for a segment of UT and t-shirt fans alike, as Strong picks up another victory.

Strange that some would choose to focus on a playcall by an OC the university rolled out the red carpet for, when the only reason the game was close was due to a couple of fumbles, and then try to somehow pin that on Strong, especially after an impressive showing by the defense. I guess to appease the haters, Strong should now call the offense and defense, as well as be the HC.

Game is over with a score or 1-2 first downs and you best player on the team is sitting on the sidelines. Instead, we run a QB draw, throw the ball stopping the clock, and run out a package that hasn't worked since the first game of the season.

I can guarantee you that Saban, Urban, Harbaugh aren't standing on the sideline in that situation with their hands in their pockets. And neither of them are dealing with a first time play caller.

What would Pete Carroll be doing? Let's even say it was the Super Bowl and they were losing and on the goal line, instead of a regular season game with an 8 pt lead, just for fun.

Pete also made a similar mistake in the 2005 National Championship by leaving Bush on the sideline on 4th and 1. Both plays lost him championships.

Something to be said about a bad call here and there. But yesterday's last 2 possessions were some of the worst decisiom making. But a win is a win and the defense played a heck of a game so there's that.

Brian Robison is still my hero from that game, for that play alone.

Are we not allowed to criticize stupid coaching moves?

I can't compare a gimmicky Tyrone Swoopes formation vs a player who won the Heisman (if USC give his parents a house)

Even on Longhorn Network they were saying, time to put the 18 wheeler package in the garage and give to 33

They don't need to give it up. Just throw a changeup for a while until teams back off. People scout, so throw in a trick or two.

    *operative word: throw

I've been screaming for them to use Swoops in the "fake the run, step back, throw TD" formation all year. They finally used it and it was beautiful, but OL decided to penalty that whole play up for no reason whatsoever. Maybe they'll use it again, it's open every time.

I also think they could pitch it to Swoopes and let him have a run/pass option.

Yes, the defense was really good on the road against a high-powered offense and without a key player.

This is not the first game that it's happened (having the best player on the field uninvolved in a key 3-4th and short situation). Are we not allowed to ask WTF they're thinking and WhyTF they're doing it repeatedly?

Sure, ask away, but ask the right guy (Gilbert), meaning the much ballyhooed OC that was supposed to rescue the offense, not Strong who has already had to take over the defense. I just think it's ridiculous to criticize Strong for not overruling his OC when the team was up 8 and the defense was playing well. Do we now want Strong to have more say over the offense? I mean, obviously multiple coaches now see something positive in Swoopes.

So after Gilbert did it the first time (or 2), before the next game Charlie didn't tell him to, paraphrase, "don't ****ing do that again"?

He is the Head Coach, he was standing right there near Gilbert, there is no excuse for D'Onta to be on the sideline on those short yardage plays. Just no excuse.

    And I love Charlie Strong.

Little Hagar needs to go to the same gym/pharmacy as Clay Matthews and Cushing. He's got skills but he's tiny.

It's on the both of them. It was terrible play calling by Sterlin in which Strong should've overruled. Hell it could've been Strong's call for all we know. I don't think you necessarily want him to have more say in the offense but you want your HC to step in and make a call if needed. In this case, there was no reason not to have Foreman in when you just need 2 yards to seal the game.

Ugh. I thought 8-4 would be the cutoff coming into the season. But the more Strong is put into pressure situations, the more I see him blunder from terrible decisions. It makes me think he'll only be mediocre and that's his ceiling.

Interesting, so Strong has to win 2/3 against WVU/TCU/Bowl game (kansas is a automatic win).

Defense has admittedly played better after demoting Bedford. I'd be comfortable with Strong staying provided he wins 8 including the bowl game. I'm no longer as enamored with Hermann now that UH fell apart.
