http://tinyurl.com/NBARank41-50 50. Myles Turner, Indiana Pacers (238) 49. Brook Lopez, Brooklyn Nets(51) 48. Victor Oladipo, Oklahoma City Thunder (58) 47. Dwight Howard, Atlanta Hawks (14) 46. Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns (323) 45. Andrew Wiggins, Minnesota Timberwolves (44) 44. Nicolas Batum, Charlotte Hornets (71) 43. Eric Bledsoe, Phoenix Suns (37) 42. Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets (294) 41. Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks (43)
I like Jokic. But right now? He isn't a top 42 player in the league. His defence is suspect and he fouls a lot and so he can't play too many minutes.
So now that we are at #40 with no DMo, can we officially say he didn't make the Top 200 cut? So weird to see they had Howard ranked #14 last year and we probably all agreed, yet laugh at the notion now.
So Utah is supposed to have 3 top 40 players. They better get homecourt advantage then. Also the Knicks with 2 in top 40. And one of the worst teams in the league. Like Jokic, as much as I like Porzingis I don't believe he is top 40 yet.
So, Magic have the lowest ranked best player. Although, SI disagreed, placing Ibaka at 42. By my count, here's the teams with no Top 40 Players. (Please double-check me.) Teams without a Top 40 Player 71. Serge Ibaka, Orlando Magic (28) 62. D'Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers (109) 58. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers (NR) 49. Brook Lopez, Brooklyn Nets(51) 46. Devin Booker, Phoenix Suns (323) 43. Eric Bledsoe, Phoenix Suns (37) 42. Nikola Jokic, Denver Nuggets (294) 41. Dirk Nowitzki, Dallas Mavericks (43) Teams without a Top 50 player 71. Serge Ibaka, Orlando Magic (28) 62. D'Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers (109) 58. Joel Embiid, Philadelphia 76ers (NR)
Zachary Lavine at 87 is a nice spot but I think he might still be too high. By the end of the year I think he will be top 50.
Cool, thx. Missed Ibaka. SI had him at #42. NBA has him in the 70s. So, Magic have the worst top player for NBA.com, and PHI the worst for SI.
I don't know when those lists were made, but so far the early results agree more with the NBA's list. He has been terrible. And in my opinion he won't play much better, because now that instead of superstars he has to be a prime option of a team his weaknesses are getting exposed.
Regarding differences between ESPN and SI's rankings, I generally think the ESPN rankings are the most spot on, simply due to the fact that there are loads of people that contribute to these rankings. Obviously there's some I disagree with, but it's pretty solid. Just contradicted yourself a bit there haha. These rankings are not meant to be from a snapshot in time, but the player's overall contributions this entire year.
I don't know where they ranked Will Barton, but wherever they ranked him, it's too low. Right now the guy is scoring 18 points per, 5 boards, 2.7 assists, .947 ft percentage and getting to the line 6.3 times a game. Newsflash: this guy is pretty good. He might be a top 25 player in the league right now.
