The media is going to give it to Westbrook, the thirst is real. I would rather have the Media thirst after Westbrook than Curry. so I'm good.
Westbrook will be the early favorite, especially if they continue to win. But I'm fine with it going down to Westbrook and Harden for the MVP. I think ultimately Harden will win it on efficiency if we can just win enough games.
They did two years ago, and Harden has consistently been regarded as one of the top MVP candidates in the last four years. Two all-nba first team selections already. Westbrook has one. It all comes down to the team record, and if Houston out-performs most media pundits' expectation of this team, and Harden keeps up his monster performance, believe me they will vote for him. It's the regular fans who are more problematic, to be honest.
He's got a chance, he almost won it that year Golden State won their championship. The team just has to be way up there with wins. That's what sport is all about. Just win, baby!
As of now, Harden is 2nd in PER (Player Efficiency Rating), only behind Kawhi, and ahead of AD, Westbrook, DeRozan and Durant, with 66 TS% (60% is the cutoff for being considered elite.) But Klay's better tho.
Curry has been very mediocre overall, not too bad, but certainly not as dominant as he used to be. From what I saw watching their games, KD is clearly the best player on that team.
That all-NBA snub might have been the best thing for Hardens career. I think he got complacent after his spectacular 2014-2015 season and it looked like it on the court. Then you had the the combination of Dwights toxic attitude which obviously did not help. I think now with the new found motivated attitude, much better coaching staff and the combination much better team chemistry and weapons granted still tad early to draw a conclusive conclusion but damn he looks great right now.
Just read the most accurate description for Harden's game. He's like a Jazz musician. He controls the rhythm like nobody else. Sometimes it seems like he's playing in slow motion, then it's like full speed and you never saw it coming. Changing rhythm on the move, always improvising but in an accuracy and purpose. He's not the most Athletic (LeBron), explosive (Westbrook) or skilled (curry), but he controls the nuances of the game like no one I've seen before. Now with the D'antoni guidance it's just beautiful to watch
The most amazing thing about the assists is the fact that on the other end of them are literally a bunch of clowns. That is underappreciated.
