I am thinking the contrary. What if Harden wants to win but he does not know how to win it on the biggest levels, meaning Championship and Finals level? Consistently. He does not know how to cooperate with other Allstars, borderline Allstars to get there. He knows how to draw fouls, make clutch jumpers, fancy euro steps but is everything leading to a title? Good question. He is on a good way but he has to find his Pippen, find his Rodman, find his Ray Allen, find his Gasol. And find his best championship caliber SELF.
Maybe get lucky next off season, but then still it's a roster made for offense..defense still wins championships. If you cannot get a stop, you just have to be hot from three 90% of the time and we have no Curry or Klay on our team..
Not sure how Morey can get Harden any help. Aren't they capped out? And what assets do they have at this point? There's a reason I've been saying(and I'm not alone on this) that this Rockets team has a ceiling of 45-50 wins max. There's just not enough talent. Harden is great, but Anderson and Gordon are overpaid role players. Very good role players, but nothing more. We don't have a 2nd superstar or even All-Star. Les' mentality by his own admission is "win now". But there's winning more games than you lose in the regular season and then there's winning playoff series and competing for championships. He's chosen the former.
I just don't see a way for him to get more help except through free agency. Maybe a package of Capela, McDaniels and a 1st round pick or two could get an all-star who has somehow hurt his trade value i.e. demanding a trade? That's the best package we could put together our trade partner would probably have to take on Corey Brewer to match salaries. Ouch. I just don't think anything outside of free agency is all too realistic right now.
Anderson looked almost useless against the Cavs. He is so soft with some pretty wimpy post attempts. It was so glaring we need another star against a Cavs team that has 3. Hopefully we can get someone at the trade deadline. There aren't many 2017 unrestricted free agents that teams would be looking to move at the trade deadline, or that would sign outright with us that would be high impact
hmmmm....does seem odd It annoys me that nba.com doesn't post it as a key date. I was going with 17th Thursday. Maybe I counted wrong....or something is wrong http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q103 103. What is the trade deadline? The trade deadline is the point during the season after which trades are prohibited. It is defined as 3:00 PM Eastern Time on the 17th Thursday of the season (March 15 in 2011-12). The prohibition on trades lasts until the day following the team's final game of the season (see question number 100).
So he should have no life? Be intensely depressed? Listen to staind cutting himself? He's young he's rich and he balls out, on and off the court .
even though people disagree I think we do need a player like gay but not for giving up ariza tho so it's kind of hard to trade so we just got to hope when bev comes back that's takes pressure off of our guards.
Unless there's a big trade involving DeMarcus Cousins, I don't see the kind of move that brings in an equal. I see two needs on this team right now: 1) A PG that can manage the offense when Harden sits. Everyone is looking to Gordon to be that guy, but I think he is better served being a secondary ball handler.....that keeps the floor spaced and allows us to have multiple guys that can facilitate. The good news is the supply and quality of PGs on the market should be fairly high this coming offseason, meaning the teams that underperform will be considering trades at the deadline. We're only talking about 12-15 minutes a game for this person, so we don't need a headline player. 2) A versatile PF that guard the perimeter and hit 3s. This really just depends on how fast Dekker can develop.
I always thought the defense part of that was a marketing campaign, since Les, Moreu, MDA and Harden are all on the same page in spouting the company line on that. It's more to answer unfair criticism, than a reason for him losing fockass on defense
This is more tired than Harden at 4 AM. This is the part where we tell you that Jordan did all-night gambling trips, Magic consorted with hookers in the equipment closet of the Forum...during halftime of games...blah blah blah. Athletes like to have sex...with women, or even men, and drink and party. INcredible, no? it's like they're people.
a friend of mine who's a big CLE fan tells me today: you keep telling me "next year" every year, and now you still have a bunch of one-way scrubs around harden
I voted for FA. Your question is vague. I assume by help you mean another top 10 player. We already have a top 3 player. Here are the other 9: Davis Durant Curry LeBron Kawhi Westbrook Cousins Lillard Paul The players outside of that who can help, but are also considered untouchable for the most part: Drummond Derozan Butler Porzingis Griffin George Klay Whiteside Giannis Irving Aldridge Draymond Wall You have to admit, the Rockets simply don't have the assets to trade for any real help. The only way is through draft and FA. We can take risks on guys like Gay and Holiday, but even if the reward pays out it won't be enough to stop the "super" teams.
Actually for this season, I'm watching his former running mate, Sergio Rodriguez. By the time we get to the trade deadline, the 76ers will be well out of the playoff picture. Something like Brewer and our 2017 1st for Sergio. Lots of advantages to this... 1) Clears Brewer's salary off our cap. 2) We get a good facilitating PG to cover the 10-15 minutes that Harden sits. 3) Sergio is only on a 1 year deal, so we get the benefit of his $10+ million cap hold to pay him if we want to keep him long term, or let him walk if we need the cap space for a bigger signing. 4) He could potentially help us with signing Llull.
