Considering the fact that A&M needs help to win its conference championship and Washington controls its own fate, how could you possibly put A&M in the top 4 ahead of an unbeaten team? It makes no sense.

Pretty ballsy to put TAMU there, because if the narratives don't play out the way you assume, you're going to have to hold strong and replay a game that already happened, which is... kind of dumb. But not completely dumb since it wasn't on a neutral field and teams can learn/get hot.

Since their existence, I've actually liked the committee's stance and actions compared to the polls and BCS.

Judging by what the committee has stated in the past, the conference championships play a BIG role.

But they obviously aren't factored in until they are played. If TAMU doesn't play in the conference title game it will hurt them (but not surely eliminate them I don't think). When the Big 12 didn't name a champion (Bayor vs TCU) it sealed their fate a few years back.

Doesn't matter right now and everything will play out, but TAMU over Washington is a joke.

No it's not. Schedule matters. TAMU is almost certainly undefeated as well if they get Washington's joke of a schedule. Many teams are, in fact.

If Washington runs the table, they will get into the playoff, but as it stands right now they haven't proven enough.

A&M is really at 5 if the other teams win out. Need help just in one place and win out and they're in. Not a bad place to be in but a lot of football left to be played

If record is all that matters and SOS is irrelevant then Western Michigan should make the playoff this year I guess.

Not only did the Huskies not deserve a top 4 ranking, they should have been ranked behind Ohio State and Louisville.

I'm glad the committee refuses to reward joke schedules

The committee rewards going undefeated. They showed that when they gave Florida State the 4 spot in 2014, despite all of their wins being entirely unimpressive. That's the only way Washington gets in.

I don't know about SOS, but UW should get in over an SEC school on strength of SAT scores alone.

Agreed. While I'm ecstatic that A&M is, according to the only metric that statistically matters, #4, there's still a lot of CFB to be played.

Can't defend your point about SoS, so you bring up something that has absolutely nothing to do with the sport of football. Cool.

I'm not sure what the landscape looked like in 2014, but do you really see Washington jumping A&M if everyone wins out?

Barring any upsets, this top 4 seems to be set in stone

Edit: I just looked at the 2014 rankings week-by-week and it looks like FSU never dropped out of the top 4. They definitely moved around a bit due to other teams getting some big wins (Oregon, TCU, etc.), so I can see your point.

Regardless, I'm willing to bet that this is pretty much it since I see the top 4 winning out

Washington will definitely get in if they run the table. To do that, they will have beaten a rapidly improving USC, a ranked Washington State team, and a very good Colorado team in the Pac-12 championship.

That's true, I didn't consider Colorado and the Pac-12 championship. If they win out (convincingly), it can definitely happen

The average SAT score composite at University of Washington is a 1815 on the old 2400 SAT scale.

The average SAT score composite at Vanderbilt is a 2215 on the old 2400 SAT scale.

The average SAT score composite at Texas A&M is a 1734 on the old 2400 SAT scale.

I suppose you have a point... with that being said Gig 'em!

Why does Michigan get a pass? They've played 1 very good and 2 meh teams and the rest of their schedule is crap, just like pretty much everybody else.

I'll give the SEC credit, they're at least smart enough to spread out their 3 complete bullshit games, one early-one middle-one late.

Or is everyone salivating over the November matchup of aTm and UTSA?

The rest of Washington's schedule isn't great but TAMU is worse. UTEP and the two Miss schools are a combined 8-16. LSU is 5-2 so a win there will go a really long way.

It'll be interesting to see how OU can rise if they win out. They have the most ranked opponents left on their schedule but who knows if Ok St and West Virginia can stay ranked until they play OU. OU will probably make the top 10 if they win out. They could deal with 1 loss to Ohio State but the UH loss is going to kill them.

There are 3 games yet to play in the regular season that feature top 10 matchups.
    Big 10) Michigan - OSU
    Big 10) Nebraska - OSU
    SEC) Alabama - Auburn

    Current Conference Championship Pairings
    Pac 12) #5 Washington vs #15 Colorado
    SEC) #1Alabama / #9 Auburn #4 Texas A&M vs #11 Florida*
ACC) #2 Clemson vs #19 Virginia Tech
    Big 10) #3 Michigan / #6 Ohio State vs #10 Nebraska
*Three way tiebreakers for the SEC are really confusing

Here are Sagarin ratings with the Strength of Schedule in (x)
