ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Cavaliers 11/1/2016

One thing I will say is that our bench sucks. Only reliable player off the bench is Nene. Brewer, Ennis, Dekker, Bobby Brown is a collection of borderline scrubs.

This team needs Bev back to make it a solid 7. If somehow we had DMo, that would be a solid 8.

Still need another competent wing though. Hope KJ McDaniels develops into one

 

Also to add, we have NO low post defender. None. Love tore us up and Frye did too for a while. We have to figure this out. Ryno, Nene, Capela not going to cut it. (For Low post defense that is)

 

Agreed! Outside of that 1st game I think the D has been pretty encouraging so far. They are at least trying and hustling.

 

Theres always a market in basketball and outside of harden, no one is untouchable.

With the way Anderson has been playing I'd rather trade him and his horrible contract for a real center like Tyson Chandler and/or a real upgrade on the roster.

 

People forget the pace we play we're gonna give up more points. I think our defense was pretty good outside of that bad stretch in the 4th. The Rockets need a energy PF like Faried to gobble up those boards. Those offensive rebounds killed us

 

The problem is how do you get someone? We don't have many appealing player IMO. Tyson Chandler? He would be okay but he's expensive and I'm not sure we could make it work? Noel? He would be ideal but he's hurt right now and there no way we have the pieces Phili would want. I think we're stuck. Just have to hope Clint grows up

 

That's cause Westbrick plays a pretty to watch style of basketball, it's made for BSPN highlight reels and GIFs. I like the dude's intangibles but his game is really bad, 100% dependent on athleticism and volume scoring.

 

Lol 4 games in and people are already trying to lineup trades . Ariza can be a key player for us this year . If Dekker and KJ can step up and provide good backup and maybe sign Dmo to play some 4 .. Trevor will only have to play minutes in the high 20's . A fresh Ariza is a really solid player .

 

Not a bad loss at all..they kept fighting and were in it all game long. Those CLE-runs with Harden on the bench really hurt, especially the one early in the second quarter. The defense was actually pretty good. Sure there were lapses but often times they just hit some tough contested shots. Rebounding was one of the biggest issues, especially allowing CLE 2nd and 3rd opportunities to score. Oh yeah and we really need to start hitting them FTs - c'mon Harden you better than that

 

DMo can be an above average low post defender ... write that check Lezzzlie.

 

Trade DMo for Ibaka, didn't SVG have the hots for DMO? He would fit in well as PF next to Drummond aka Dwight 2.0.

 

I like Morey but it may be time to look at a new GM. He's had ten years, this team deserves a different look and life without Corey Brewer.

 

Where are the highlights for this game! I want to see the first quarter highlights.

Imagine if the Rockets lose tomorrow (back to back) to the Knicks and go under 500.

When a GM lands you a top 3 NBA player he earns his keep. Morey landed us Harden and that alone is easily worth 10 years at the helm.

 

The defense was surprisingly good when Ariza went out to get treatment on his eye. I think Rockets rolled with a line up with Dekker and KJ getting minutes on Lebron. They did better than I ever anticipated.

When Ariza went down I thought it was over, but Rockets held it together.

 

Ibaka is on the Magic. SVG coaches the Pistons. Magic wouldn't want D-Mo for sure - their spacing is bad enough. And Pistons already failed his physical.

Yep, the only other option is to throw Trez in there sometimes and see how he does. The cavs knew it too, they went at our frontline all night. Everyone is either too small (Nene, any other SF we put at PF) or too slow laterally (Clint, Ryno) to do much of anything defending in the low post.

DMO was alright here...better than what we have.

 

I'm not mad at this loss. Team has some fight in it -- I feel prepared to say I like this squad, which is more than I could say at any point last year.
