Just kill this election...kill it with fire already.

I want to believe that one week from tomorrow it will all be over...but we all know that isn't going to be the case no matter what happens on the 8th.

I don't know how or if this country will ever recover from this. These 2 giant jackasses have ruined politics for me for ever. I wonder if I can give SHSU back my degree in political science. I don't want it anymore. I don't even need a refund or anything. I just want to become one of those people who can't name the president.

Country is going to do fine. Either way, in 4 years, we'll get a reset. Cheers.

It isn't just the candidates that are nauseating. It's idiocy like this post. I wasn't starting a thread to b**** about one or the other...it was about the whole damn thing. Take it to one of the many other threads.

Even sooner than that if we place any importance on midterm elections

You should board the Trump train.

Tell me, as someone who has a degree in PS, why Trumps 5 point ethics reform plan wouldn't help improve politics?

In fact, he seems to be the only candidate that has put a plan forward to do so

First: I am going to re-institute a 5-year ban on all executive branch officials lobbying the government for 5 years after they leave government service. I am going to ask Congress to pass this ban into law so that it cannot be lifted by executive order.

Second: I am going to ask Congress to institute its own 5-year ban on lobbying by former members of Congress and their staffs.

Third: I am going to expand the definition of lobbyist so we close all the loopholes that former government officials use by labeling themselves consultants and advisors when we all know they are lobbyists.

Fourth: I am going to issue a lifetime ban against senior executive branch officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government.

Fifth: I am going to ask Congress to pass a campaign finance reform that prevents registered foreign lobbyists from raising money in American elections.

Not only will we end our government corruption, but we will end the economic stagnation.

Sure, in theory. Good luck getting Congress to vote against their ability to get these jobs after they're done. Then again, republicans vote against their own self-interests all of the time so maybe he could convince them.

How long have you been in political science? I know it can get depressing depending on your personal views, but I have been assuming that a profession in this field is loving this year election given how weird and unique it has been. Could even be a one in a lifetime election.

I hope whoever gets elected gets impeached shortly thereafter.

I don't work in it. My original plan was to be a high school government teacher/soccer coach. After Columbine, I lost the passion to teach but I had enough hours to get my degree in both PS and Kinesiology. Thought about going into law but circumstances took me away from it. That was almost 20 years ago.

I mostly just became a political junkie...watching all of the Sunday shows and other news programs and trying to absorb as much as I could. I wonder what my old professors think of this one. I remember speaking to a couple of them back in 2000 and they enjoyed the teaching moment but were mostly horrified in how it was decided. This one definitely offers a ton of material...but I'm not sure it's good material. I imagine there will be entire courses centered around this election cycle.

I do wonder how long into either of their terms would it end up being either President Pence or President Kaine. The odds of Drumpf or Hillary actually finishing 4 years has to be incredibly low.

I'm an actual scientist. Is political science even a real science?

But I will say this about the idea that both candidates are terrible: Trump actually has a lot of supporters who like him. A lot of the people voting for Hillary will just vote her because they dislike Trump more.
