He is pretty bad. Unless he learns how to not make horrible passes and be able to shoot, he will be out of the league in a year or 2. Hes like Ish Smith if Ish didnt know how to pass.
I don't understand why everyone's hating on Ennis, the dude only had 1 bad sequence in the game where he thought he was Harden and launched 2 shots early into the shot clock, other than that he was decent- he made some plays and did some drive and kicks out and was decent on D. Sure he's not a star, but with him on the helm the Rox are generally able to hold on even with Harden sitting on the bench ~5 mins at a time. He's like a glue guy at the pg spot, the guy doesn't do anything well but since he's not dead horrible at any one thing either it's not so bad. Because the salary cap is limited we need guys like Ennis on the team, he'll never win a game but at the same time he won't lose you the game either, which is more than what I can about chuckers like Brown who can light it up against scrubs but may not have the talent to score over legit NBA defenses. The worst thing you can be for a coach trying to win games is be inconsistent, if you shoot lights out one game then play like a Euroleague scrub the next one then you're gonna cause your team to lose because the coach will put you in expecting an A game then you scrub it up and waste possessions. At least with Ennis what you see is what you get, it's a "meh" performance but at least you know he won't go below meh as well. I didn't understand why Prigs was cut for Ennis at first, but looking at Ennis play defense now he's better than Prigs because he can at least stay in front of his man whereas the opponent would've blown by Priggs for an easy layup. His salary was declined but that's cause it was guaranteed for 2.7M or something, with the way he's been playing we can keep around next year on a minimum, maybe even sign him to a multi year deal at 1M Per or something like that which would be great value for what he brings now and his potential upside. As others have pointed out, it also makes his salary expiring so we can trade him if a deal comes up.
Beasly isn't exactly lighting it up on the Bucks, he only played 9 mins and had +/- of -15. If he was tearing it up he would've gotten more burn so no need to miss him.
A lot of people just refuse to face reality. Btw i agree with you, to me Ennis looked actually decent enough on defense, i'd say he plays smart defense. I do hope he'll improve his passing and shooting though, especially the first, sometimes he does a pretty good pass, other times a horrible one...maybe some confidence will help, at least i hope so. If not well, we gave him a try.
Yep. Some people hate the high turnover the Rox have but to me it's like a lottery, the more players you can get your hands on the more chances you'll luck out into someone good. If you stick to your 1st rounder and 2nd rounder every year you'll take decades before you can end up with someone good. And honestly, I think Morey being such an active GM is a big reason why the Clutch Fans community is so big, there's always something going on which is why the board is active. If Morey was the type of guy who doesn't do any trades there'd be less stuff for everyone to talk about.
Won't call him turrible just yet, he deserves another look or two, but hopes won't be up on this one.
He did shoot 45% last year....so let's give it a little time. Maybe like, enough time that some of us should go check stats before we start tossing numbers out!
Not quite. Even a younger Ish Smith was a great passer. I remember in 2010 when the Rockets got him he impressed many with his passing ability. He filled in well when Brooks and Lowry were injured.
You all do realize Ennis is 22 Years old and still pretty much a unknown commodity. This is pretty much the most consistent run he has gotten since coming into the league. He may need some dleague in his life and when Patbev comes back I'm sure he will get some looks down in RGV.
I'm not sure he was a great passer then.... He was still having trouble making rosters at that point. I think it's easier to remember Ish's style over Ennis'... Tyler is boring, so people notice his mistakes and not the boring assists....he's made some nice plays.
Not only is Smith a superior passer, ball handler and finisher at the rim, he's also just lightyears ahead when it comes to quickness, speed and athleticism.
He's obviously a better athlete.. But now he's better overall.. He really wasn't back then. He just had more flashy assists and showed more speed. Not really the best comparison... Tyler is more Pablo than he is Smith. Just needs to work on that spot up three so defenders don't back off.
