UT now 4-0 at home and 0-4 on the road/neutral field. At least we are showing that at home we can be a quality football team and hang with anybody in the Big 12.
You're not the underdog, Vegas said you were the favorite by 3. But Baylor fans like to make up stuff
**** happens. 3 points in two red zone trips. Disappointing loss but there are big games left for now.
This was one Strong really needed to make his case. Interesting post game comment: "Whoever is coaching this team next year will have a 10 win team."
Good for Strong getting this win, but this doesn't change much. I think pretty much everybody realizes (even before the game) that Baylor was nowhere near as good as their ranking suggested. They played an absolute trash schedule with only one even decent victory. The big 12 is really, really bad right now. Texas could very easily be 4-1 in conference right now, and we are not a good team.
It'll be interesting to see how BU fares through the brunt of their schedule. I could see them dropping another 2 which doesn't help Strong's case all that much. But the Big 12 will continue to suffer until Texas gets back to where we need to be. A 1-loss TCU, WVU, and BU will always have trouble getting into the CFP.
Oh maybe there is a misunderstanding. I just meant he is a senior so this is his last year. I agree with you about the formation. Foreman (RB) is a junior but I think he's going pro. He would be in the Heisman talk if UT was ranked. He is the first back since Jamal Charles to not split many reps and he's the most accomplished stat wise since Charles. Is Warren eligible for a medical redshirt year? He only played in a few games. Porter seems like he's going to do well. I understand the criticisms of Gilbert but it's still his first year with the offense. You need to give him some leeway especially since it's still our best offense in years. I think Charlie's timeout was a good call because this defense is still not that good. I don't think it's any less likely that Baylor would have scored if Texas hadn't taken the timeout. It gave Texas time to get new players in and get setup for the ideal play. It didn't work because they aren't a good squad. Benching Jefferson might have turned out to be a good call. He had an amazing game. He has pretty much had that starting spot since he got to campus. Maybe showing him that nothing is guaranteed helped him out. This year might look like LSU's situation last year with Les Miles where he was on the hot seat but finished the year strong. However, les had more support from the fans. It might be more like Mack's last year except that Mack was 1 win away from winning the big 12. No one should feel bad for Charlie no matter what happens. He'll have made 20 million in annual salary and buyout in a 3 year span. He'll also get another head coaching job but he needs to avoid the PAC 12 and Big 12 like the plague. He can't deal with the spread.
http://texas.247sports.com/Bolt/Cha...es-will-continue-to-see-time-as-a-RB-48657196 Charlie Strong: Tyrone Swoopes will continue to see time as a RB AUSTIN — There aren’t many offensive roles, quarterback Tyrone Swoopes hasn’t seen this season. He has, most famously, come out in his signature “18-Wheeler” package. He has thrown eight passes, five of which have been caught. And, on Saturday, Texas put him in the backfield as a running back. The move was the first time Swoopes has taken a handoff during his career at Texas, but it won’t be the last. On Monday, head coach Charlie Strong said he’d be back there more this season. “He will play some [at running back], he’ll get his snaps,” Strong said. “Just getting D’Onta [Foreman] a spell.” Swoopes appeared as a running back six times in Texas’ 35-34 win over Baylor, serving as a backup to Foreman. The senior struggled at points to find the right technique on receiving a handoff and tallied just seven yards on seven total carries against the Bears, with a long run of nine yards in the first quarter.
