They arent' going to ever play hard on defense. They're going to devote more effort to offense From the very top of the organization, the message is "let's score as many points as we can" - which is why they hired Pringles & got Anderson & Gordon. That's what they're going to try to do.
Agreed. Harden has proven he can be at least an average defender so that's a different case than Anderson who has never been able to defend a chair.
This is true. They will win some games when the three pointers are going in, but they will lose the rest of the time. I don't remember any team winning a championship with offense only. So, it is what it is. This is not a contending team and will be frustrating to watch. Maybe someday Les and Morey will realize a proper rebuild is what's needed.
I completely agree but it should scary everyone a little that we are this dependent on Beverley to be a reasonably successful team.
biggest issue as seen last night, REBOUNDING AND INTERIOR DEFENSE. These are same issues that caused GSW to get destroyed by spurs. Teams like Twolves will feast on houston if we dont get these problems fixed
Please tell me what will our Coach do to fix the problem ..... Three players played terrible games , limited contribution:- a) Ennis, not worthy of his spot b) Brewer c) Ariza. THE COACH MUST FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!!!!!!
The problem is simple. To much one one one ball. We need other guys to get involved. This is on Mike D.
No excuse for losing that game. But top to bottom the Lakers have a more talented roster than we do. I think the Lakers are going to surprise a lot of people.
Yep Ariza is a spot minute guy, and brew and Ennis aren't rotation players on a good team. The thing is we have guys on the roster that should be playing over them.
In fairness to Morey, Plan A was to get both Horford and Bazemore. So he realizes what we really need as much as you or me. Plus, pretty certain he did not want MDA as first choice either. So I can't bring myself to criticize too much, because I'm not so sure doing nothing after failure to attract Horford and/or Bazemore is the right thing either:
Defense was fine in primary rotation. Secondary and tertiary help rotations were sloppy to awful and paint protection was bad when no Capela was in.
This isn't an aau league, or a local high school. This is the NBA. You can't just take the best players and "hold them accountable." For everything you take, you need to give up something. James harden play harder D for instance. We already know that in order for harden to play better D, he needs to play less often, and be less active on offense. If we "hold him accountable," on defense, our offense worsens more than our defense improves. Your players are known commodities at this point. they are grown men. You can't just clap and tell them to play harder. You need to figure out why they aren't naturally playing harder, or if maybe, you are taxing them to the zenith of their ability.
The Rockets looked tired by the middle of the 3rd quarter last night. I don't know if they need to go a little deeper on the bench to give some of the guys or rest or if they will adjust to the faster pace as they get used to playing like that all the time.
