I'm starting a new thread, because every time I see the old thread bumped I think he had another season ending injury, lol Also, AWGTI = Are we going to ignore
btw: That block Embiid had in the video above wasn't just anyone. That's the #3 pick in the draft Jaylen Brown who is no rookie at dunking (well, I guess technically he is). This is from later in the same game. Boston expects big stuff from him. btw: They are saying he might play Power Forward.
If Jaylen Brown can defend PFs on a regular basis, Celtics made the right pick. I have serious doubts he can.
I watched half a really bad preseason game of one team I despise (Celtics) just for Embiid and it was definitely worth it. I'm already a very big believer and fan. I never liked all that show with the twitter etc but as a player he has the game to support it. He will be a star imo. He only had problems with double teaming but the Celtics bench started doing it way too soon in the game and performed it exceptionally well (they doubleteamed him very early as soon as he got the ball) . He's also unable to guard stretch 4s or stretch 5s and that will not change imo. He couldn't guard Horford ie because he was way too slow to cover him. I'm very excited to watch him.
Last 5 'preseason' games ... The good 13.8pts, 7rebs, 47.8% FG (respectable, been out 2 years), 82.8% FTs and 5.8FTA, in 15.6min !!!! That works out to around 30/15 + 13FTA per 36min, which would be insane numbers. The bad 0 assists, 2.8 TOs, 3.4PFs. Obviously, small sample on low minutes, but IF HEALTHY ...
I have to admit I wasn't expecting much from him a month ago but seeing a few games, if he can manage to stay healthy I'm pretty impressed. For the sake of lack of legit big men in the league nowadays I hope he does. Him and KAT can be beasts at the C position for the future
0 assists means they are going out of system to just pass him the ball for his 15minutes in preseason, so those numbers are not sustainable for full minutes. Still impressive, just not 30/15 impressive
Clearly he has a lot to learn, but has looked very solid to me. If Philly gets a top 5-10 C out of him, it will have been a decent pick imo.
Yes, basically the 76ers have been force feeding him opportunities a bit during his limited time out there (minutes restriction I guess). Nonetheless, still very impressive for a guy with not even 1 year of college ball and 2 seasons out with injury + late start to basketball.
He looks good, but the way he runs just looks like an injury waiting to happen. He has that Bynum run...
This situation feels a lot like Tyreke Evans in Sacramento. Everybody was doing backflips because Evans was dropping 20 pts a night, and nobody cared that he was shooting like 34% from the field.
