What happened to the good Capela who dunked over people and swatted shots?

The problem is he needs to come off the bench so our starting line up can get more playmaking and spacing , I also think hes hit the rookie wall ( He didnt have many games under his belt last year) hes most likely feeling fatigued ..

Except the rookie wall theres something else called the sophomore slump. It happens because the players have been finally scouted from the other teams and their strengths and weaknesses analysed. Esp if a player from the bench starts playing vs starters. Now capella is not an unknown like last year his opponents know what they should look out for, what are his moves his spots and try to move him out from them make all harder for him and how to make him foul more easy. Its a natural procedure that happens to all.
Now capella like all the other young players must develop countermoves and overcome it or be so dominant and good that even when the opponent know whats hes going to do they cant stop him.

    He came back!

    Then he left at halftime.

Seriously, WTF is up with Capela's conditioning? Does he have asthma or something? You'd think after 2 years in the NBA he'd be able to handle 20-30 minutes but he still looks like he's climbing Everest without an oxygen tank midway through the 2nd period.

This is something that is hard to keep up with while you're putting on weight, especially when your adrenaline gets pumping during actual game action. He will be able to withstand more minutes as the season goes on.

He was clearly the better Center for us last night and D'Antoni made a mistake playing Nene.

That said, I do wish we would get a better defensive PF out there with him so he isn't overwhelmed. Our Cs have an impossible job protecting the rim.

Capela has a lot on his plate. Take over the starting role, get stronger, get more stamina, finish at the bucket more, learn the rotations and then when your done with that you need to practice your shot and offensive foot work and how's your free throw shooting?

Once Capela and Nene literally quit on the team and admit to it on national television, then it is apples to apples. Once Capela and Nene are HOF talented Cs, then it is apples to apples. Once Clint gets the most postups in the NBA and does literally nothing with them, then complains to the press that he doesn't get the ball, THEN we will be comparing apples to apples.

funny people keep using the post up numbers as if they're just massive. In the days where C play is almost nothing, that number isn't as significant as you want to make it be. Like him or not the defense will suffer immensely but it's just interesting how we see that comment about a C for houston has an impossible job now yet got ridiculed just a year ago. New Year. New Energy. New Focus. #itsdwightsfault

C play is almost nothing according to who? Myles Turner, Joel Embiid, Andre Drummond, Deandre Jordan and Karl Anthony Towns, Marc Gasol, Demarcus Cousins?

It all begins and ends with culture, and Dwight was most certainly the major culprit to our soft, quitting and childish antics last season.

Just ask all of Dwight's ex-teammates.

    So lets get this straight.

Dwight started out in Orlando...left the team in flames. You had a player who barely says anything talk crap about him in Redick (among other players.) lets excuse that.

He goes to LA...has two...wait 3 legends question his mental approach to the game and his character in Nash, Kobe, and Artest. We will excuse that as well.

He comes to Houston and well once again you have people saying nearly the same things, that he's a problem in the locker room. You had our coach basically say if things aren't near perfect in the locker room then well Dwight doesn't do too well. We will excuse that...

Meanwhile on the other side you have Harden. Which former teammate has talked crap about Harden again? In fact the Thunder have yet to make the finals since his departure and not only that, the team trading Harden was their undoing as Harden was the only guy keeping Westbrook and Durant together. What is funny is if they had kept James, the super bad terrible run away Dwight player then they'd still have Durant and probably a ring or two by now.

didn't bring up any of the personal problems. not relevant here. that situation is what it is and I'm not doubting those controversies. I'm strictly addressing all the blame he got night in and night out because he apparently couldn't hold down the C position yet an "impossible job protecting the rim" emerges here.

He got blame night in and night out because of his effort and attitude. He most certainly had an impossible job last year, but he had and still has the talent to make a huge impact by himself with being coddled in the locker room. He is paid 20 million dollars to play hard and have a good attitude. How I wish we all had that opportunity.

again strictly addressing playing the C position on this team. not concerned with all the other drama as it pertains to this discussion. now that the scapegoat is gone, we're getting a glimpse of who the next one or next couple are. it's going to be a long year

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned this, but I''m pretty sure in RGV there was talk of him having a degenerative/chronic groin condition.

Going to need a pick and roll center for this to work. Capela IS that dude but his conditioning is crazy bad. If he could stay on the court he'd average 7 alley oops a game.

He will be beasting in 2 weeks time. The guy is progressing so fast. 2 years ago he was playing in a second rate European league taking jumpers while falling to one side, with the strength of a plastic straw. Today he's starting in the NBA, and doing well. He's put the work in, I appreciate his effort for this team. His future is looking great and well ahead of schedule at age 22, the youngest rotation player on our playoff bound team.
