That and BU has only played one team with a winning record right so far. Think they have had the lowest strength of schedule out of any P5 school thus far. This is the only remaining game where I think there is a chance outside of Kansas. Not sure exactly why though.
The problem is that UT is being sued for sex and racial discrimination by a former track coach and her entire case revolves around being treated differently than Major Applewhite when it came to a sexual relationship with a student. The coach had an ongoing relationship with one of her players while Applewhite had a 1 night stand with a student trainer. She was fired and he was not. UT asked the state Supreme Court to block the lawsuit but no announcement has been made. Hiring Major back could make it much more likely that they would lose the lawsuit but I don't know what the effect would be.
It would certainly be a bad look but hiring him back would not be allowed as permissible evidence. UT botched this by not settling this in the first place. Believe she is seeking $1M in damages. Like I said, I'm sure they'd rather not have to deal but not sure it would be a deal breaker either.
Yeah, they would have to settle that, but I don't think Major coming back would be blocked.....they would probably settle with her as part of the process. DD
This issue goes beyond the athletic department and president. This is a UT-System that goes to UT chancellor Bill McRaven. I think you are both are greatly exaggerating the power and importance of athletics in the face of what would likely be a million dollar settlement. I think the system is much more sensitive to any matters regarding athletics and sex after the issue with Baylor even though the circumstances are much different. It's also possible that a lawsuit about racial discrimination might be more sensitive to a jury given current events. A relationship between a coach and his/her player is also much different than a coach and a trainer but it's not like the trainer was a student. Applewhite also disclosed the affair to the athletic director and he was reprimanded, docked pay and the event was officially filed in his record. Also, I think Major would look for every opportunity to become a head coach. He has served as an offensive coordinator at Rice, Alabama, Texas and Houston. I don't know why there are not more UH fans who would like Major to take over as coach.
Agree with everything except for the power and importance of athletics, especially football. The fact that Major was retained while Kearney, who won 6 National Titles, was canned illustrates that somewhat. Now the facts were different, there is a new regime, and recent events change things quite dramatically, but I don't think it's a non-starter nor would they just welcome him back with open arms. Think it would something to be negotiated. But I agree that he would take any opportunity as HC if it came along.
Baylor has one of the best rushing attacks and KD Cannon is finally healthy. Roy will return giving the D line a much needed boost. I could be wrong but the 3.5 line or whatever is easy money imo. Baylor is also super fresh with byes 2/3 weeks and the KU game being wrapped up at halftime. KU played Ok State and TCU tough recently and we destroyed them. I think we're coming around. Nobody has to believe in Baylor but the guys in the locker room. Guys like Ziggy and whoever can think we're not a good football team. That's fine and all but it does not change the FACT that Seth Russell has NEVER lost a football game as a starter (14-0!). #howyoulikedemapples
Ya I don't really have a good reason for you, just a feeling. The defense is horrendous and the offense hasn't played well the last 2 games either. But maybe they'll rise up for a Top 10 matchup at home.
TIFWIW, Chip Brown hearing that Strong needs to win out to save his job. Sounds harsh but that would still only put us at 8-4 and that seemed to be the magic number from the start of the season. A complete overhaul of the staff would cost $18.5M for our buyouts alone. Of course, Herman's name is being mentioned the most as possible replacement.

The following players will not be starting tomorrow: CB Davante Davis CB Holton Hill LB Malik Jefferson LB Anthony Wheeler OG Patrick Vahe WR John Burt S Deshon Elliott Players who will be starting: Bonney Hall Freeman Cole Good riddance, Charlie. Are you trying to get fired?
Absolutely ridiculous. The reason Charlie should get fired is exactly this - the sophomore players who should be improving are actually regressing so much that they're being benched. It's infuriating.
He's desperately trying to save his job and is just trying whatever he can at this point. In no world is Tim Cole better than even a struggling Malik Jefferson. Baylor has a good rush defense, and Vahe is one of the best run blockers we have. Bonney is going to get torched against their athletic receivers. Wheeler has been our best linebacker this year. Strong has lost his mind.
