I can't imagine they'll bench him (which I think is the right course of action)..... I mean, they have to know for sure what they have, and while the early returns are discouraging... I just don't think they'll give him anything less than a full slate of 16 games. That's why I'm hoping he gets injured.
That's what I've been saying, they have too much invested and the only way to get Savage in there is by injury.
It IS absurd... at the same time, they've got to figure out what they have, and I don't just mean Osweiler. If Savage - who's been in the system three years - looks as lost as Brock... then we have to assume BOB is the problem and he needs to go and they need to find someone who can build an offense around Osweiler.
same here (not the hoping he gets injured part. i dont personally wish that upon any athlete haha). as long as the division is terrible like it is and hou can still win the division they'll use that as their scapegoat for keeping Brock behind center. Winning the division serves as their self gratification especially losing JJ for the year, even though the goals should be bigger.
This offensive coaching staff consistently shows itself in over their heads. Can't imagine how the offense is regressing. When will the owner wake up? When will the players give up? Maybe they already have.
He reminds me of Charlie Strong - just missing out on the major details a great coach notices, and uses to their advantage. DD
Brock Osweiler will be the starting QB here the rest of this season for sure. He will undoubtedly start out the QB next year, but if by the halfway point the team is in trouble, they will turn to Savage or whoever else is waiting. BOB will then get s***canned.
How much is on Obrien? He can't make the throws for Os. Os was short in every game after the first week and was long on everything on Monday. He needs to settle down.
Most of it. O'Brien comes up with the game plans that are always awful and uses his players in the worst ways possible. Every drive that stalled due to wasting 2 downs running Lamar Miller up the middle and forcing a 3rd and long is on BOB. Look at what Kubiak did with a scrub QB for comparison. That's a good coach getting the most out of his guys.
Fair enough, but how can you blame him for bad throws? You can't blame the play call every time. There have been so many throws that aren't even close to the guy. Gameplan didn't seem to matter last year with multiple QBs throwing to Nuke.
A coach is responsible for getting his players ready to play. This team is general comes out flat EVERY first half.
I don't blame him for bad throws, but that's a small portion of what is wrong. Bad throws isn't why Nuk has run the wrong route numerous times, bad throws aren't why Fuller keeps dropping passes, bad throws aren't why the O line can't hold up, bad throws aren't why the defense can't stop anyone, bad throws aren't why Lamar Miller keeps being run up the middle for no gain. Are bad throws a problem? Sure. Osweiler is a limited QB, but so was Mallett and Hoyer last year. So is Keenum in LA, so is Siemian in Denver, so are a lot of QB's. That's where gameplanning and coaching come into play. People like to bring up that BOB had success last season....but so did Osweiler. Clearly those things that made Osweiler successful last season and made the Texans have success with garbage QB's last season aren't present this season.....so there's really no point in mentioning them.
What happened to the WR coach they hired from the Giants? Wasn't he supposed to be really good with all this talent they have? Maybe he needs to be fired?
But OB can't be held responsible for Fuller missing easy catches going back to HS. Nor can he be held responsible for the short and long throws. I remember one wrong route by Nuke, have there been many this season? Is OB responsible for the O line injuries? Is OB responsible for all those injuries in the secondary? I totally agree the play calling is on him, but I feel like a lot of things are on individual players and the rest is on bad luck (injuries). We really are depleted on D.
