So we traded our second leading scorer for...nothing. Great job Morey, exec of the year for that guy smh. So does this mean Lil Glove made tbe squad?
If they waived Ennis, that would be really stupid. But did they actually do it or not? I'm so confused.
Let's see now if they pick up his next years option. Otherwise it almost proves they chose him over Pablo for $ reasons and he becomes nothing but an expiring.
That could make sense except we kept 2 PGs over Prigs, not one. So, we could say Ennis was kept because he's 50 yrs younger, and Harden wanted Brown over Prigs. Doubtful Morey picks up the team option on a 3rd stringer, so don't necessarily see how it would be related.. Also, shouldn't we wait to see if Prigs gets picked up off of waivers, since he's a vet min, any team can grab him.
So who is right? Any team can pick up Prigs off waivers? I don't believe Ennis' option will be picked up either because it looks the choice to be based on $ imo..but for those saying that Ennis is a better "asset" with potential. As soon as his option isn't picked up his trading value becomes 0. But then again we don't know with the new CBA and the new 2 way contracts? Perhaps it makes sense for teams to pick up options for marginal prospects?
Is it possible for us to not pick up his option for 2017/18 and sign him to a new contract? (like a two/three year deal partially guaranteed like Covington's contract)
Yes. But the amount we can pay is less than other teams are allowed. So if he actually (1% chance imo) actually shows something like Solo Hill , and so the gamble by retaining him works, he's off to another team. Other than that his trading value during the season will be zero. Just an expiring cheap contract.
Any team can pick up a vet min contract off of waivers. and ----------------------------------------------- CBA: http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q65 A team can claim a player on waivers only if one of the following is true: [...] The player has a minimum salary contract (one or two seasons at the minimum salary, with no bonuses of any kind). -----------------------------------------------
But can we sign him to an extension right now or we need to wait next summer in this case (if we don't pick up his option)?
Thanx for the clarification. Who has a clear roster spot? AFAIK only Chicago is at 14 atm. Philly had 20.
I'm not a cap expert but 1st round picks get extensions at the end of their 3rd year season. So no it's not possible to my knowledge. First you need to pick up his option by 31 Octomber and then if you are interested next summer sign an extension. I hope by the deadline we will have more details on the new roster size, rookie scale contracts and 2 way D-league contracts. Because there are a lot of marginal prospects like him that would have otherwise gotten their option not picked up but now it may make sense for teams to pick them up.
Not really interested in why Prigs was cut enough to look that up. You could very well be right that Morey/Les want to keep Ennis solely because they don't want to cut the most expensive contract. fwiw: I would have kept Prigs, if for nothing else, to run the practice offense, and as player-coach for Harden on the fine details of the system. I would have cut Brown. But hell, I cut all the PGs to keep Wiltjer once DMo signs.
You can't be serious, you think Beasley is worth a 2nd round pick? If he was worth that much I think Rox would have stuck with GP2 and just gotten the 2nd round pick. LOL ok I got confused apparently it's Prigs who is cut now. Weird, so basically if DMo signs we still need to cut one more guy? Is that correct?
