Not sure what the concern is with having a 4th PG while PB is out (5th when he's back). Harden is going to play most of the minutes. If Harden is out, it really isn't going to matter much as a tanking PG can be acquired at any time.

I'd like to see Rockets keep Wiltjer as he seems to have one NBA skill, but I've not seen as much as the Rockets. Doubt decision is going to be weighted too heavily on just preseason games.

So are you arguing that it's a better deal to keep a 32 year old PG that has never had any major impact on the NBA over a 24 year old rookie that has outplayed him during the pre-season and has also showed that he has one elite talent that its VERY valuable for the type of game this team likes to play?

If that is the case i think you are wrong.

he'd be a better option than brown/ennis..and you'd be lying to yourself if you thought otherwise..

this is a 3rd option imo. and to his credit, he plays defense better than any pg on the roster now, can pass, and hustles..reminds me of rondo..

just because price has a track record doesn't mean he's a better option . There's a reason why his track record is awful . He's proven he can be a marginal NBA player , but he's also 33 and that ability to be in the NBA ( as one of the worst players) is diminishing .

One look at his career stats is all I need to rather take a shot on Ennis or brown . Plus we have Pablo , who I'm not trilled about , but is gonna have to put in work while bev is out

so you're willing to try out a 39 year old over a 33 year old?

it's not about career stats for price..he never had to play in a big role, and we're not calling for him to assume a big role either. i don't trust prigs to endure the season while bev is out...

on top of that, price plays good defense, can pass, hustles, and would be a great option in dantoni's offense...

i'd take price over brown/ennis all day.

Look at this defensive RPM last year. Look at his defensive on/off numbers the last five years. I don't give a **** if he makes Rafer Alston look like Steve Nash, dude's a rock solid defender at the 1, he doesn't turn the ball over, and his shooting %s will probably improve measurably in a wide-open D'Antoni offense (as they tend to for ALL PGs).

He's the perfect stop-gap for the first 20+ games without Bev.

Interesting way to frame it but ridiculous none the less. Wiltjer has shot the ball well. But he doesn't do anything else needed from that position. He can't defend, he can't rebound or be physical enough to play any real minutes. He's also very slow and very nonathletic . Bobby Brown is also nothing special, but at the minimal he can handle the ball and occasionally score when needed. Brown is obviously the choice given Wiltjer's shortcomings are all due to his lack of athleticism
