How about we trade Montrezl or Onuaku instead.
I would like to keep a backup point guard and Wiltjer on the roster.

I expect Wiltjer to make the team. If he is a poor man's Ryan Anderson, then at the very least he would be some sort of insurance if Anderson does get injured and the Rockets badly needed a stretch big man.

I don't think ANYBODY expects Wiltjer to be the next MJ. We're just hoping he'll be the next Matt Bullard.

He can shoot but he won't see play time most of the times anyway since Prigioni is still better than him (imo at least)...and btw Ennis is still young, and already a better defender, the rest can improve, you can't say the same for Brown.

If you are expecting your team will have some major injuries and relying on Brown and Wiltjer to contribute,

    well then, you are forked.

They are not insurance, they are the death sentence if you are expecting this way.

Hence none of them should be expected to play any meaningful minutes this season, and hence the only expectation out of your 15th spot should be only for future developmental potential.

Steve Novak & Marcus Thornton. ;)

The one NOT released now will be when/if Motiejunas signs.

Espn scouting report on RJ Hunter below.

    Scouting report

+ College sharpshooter who didn't make shots as NBA rookie

+ Showed impressive feel for the game during strong preseason

+ Has added strength in effort to compete defensively

    Analysis

The first step to Hunter breaking into the Celtics' rotation is to start providing the advertised outside shooting. Hunter shot just 30.2 percent on 63 3-point attempts as a rookie, and was slightly worse (29.6 percent) in eight D-League appearances. So it was encouraging to see him shoot 47.2 percent on 3s during five summer-league games.

If and when Hunter starts knocking down open catch-and-shoot opportunities, he can also provide a bit more offensively. During the preseason, Hunter opened eyes with his passing and general ability to read the court. He can get in trouble trying to do too much off the dribble, and doesn't shoot well off the dribble -- particularly going left because he gathers on the right side of his body.

Teams attacked Hunter defensively as a rookie, posting him up or putting him in isolations. He's added strength to his upper body and now stands a better chance of holding up in one-on-one defense. This is an important season for Hunter to establish himself, since he'll be 23 in October and there's more young talent coming from Boston's cache of draft picks.

tl;dr version: college sharpshooter who didn't shoot well last season. Looked good in preseason though, showed some good court vision, still can't dribble.

It's more likely than Dekker will contribute, but he is not as reliable a shooter as Wiltjer from what was shown in the off-season. There are not a lot of big man in this league that could shoot, so if Wiltjer does prove capable he will always find a spot in this league. Just look at how Troy Daniels is still getting attention in this league despite being an undersized SG who could do nothing else but shoot.

We need to keep Witljer. He has a certain NBA ready skillset that can contribute.

I'd rather dump Dekker, Brewer and of course Browny or that underhand FT shooter guy if it means keeping Witljer

I have no interest in Hunter. He's 23 still weak and thin, slow , bad in d, and not a great shooter.

Nothing I've seen from Ennis has impressed me. I say keep Wiltjer and Brown.

I agree except for the fact that Brown is 32 so keep that in consideration.

Which, in my mind, makes him a more developed player. For one year, give me the veteran. Could be wrong, but I don't see Ennis having a future here.
