Capela had been balling the last two games. If he keeps this production up he'll challenge for an Allstar spot playing in this offense. His rebounding is much improved and his hands are light years better than Dwights. Plus he's actually got some touch around the basket. Been surprised by some of his passes too. The guy has a decent feel for the game. This is an aspect of his game I wonder if he can improve upon over the years and maybe be able to pass similar to nene.
Absolutely. Hoping and praying that the hard work is starting to pay off. I like him in the starting lineup, with the second unit running through Nene's passing ability.
250lbs is a healthy weight for someone his size. He could definitely add more. Think about NFL pass rushing defensive ends: 6'4-6'7, 270-290lbs is common. Those are specimens of nature, but Clint Capela should be too; he does this for a living. Sure beats the hell out of the 250lb+ people I see in clinic every day. Men and women. Dear Clutchfans, stop eating processed carbs if you would like to live to see the Rockets win another championship. It's gonna be a while...
lots of players bulk up in the off-season - the 82 games schedule is grueling. many of them lean up throughout the season. remember that off season when kobe bulked up?
He is not gaining more that 250lbs. You dont want him to lose agility. During the season, he will lose 10-15lbs anyway.
Agree. Capela to me is best in adding wiry strength & skills, not just straight "weight". Weight gain works when its like a Dwight Howard example, just pure muscle weight with NO fat adding the bulk, pure muscle adding strength & power. Though training has improved greatly over the years, NBA players don't seem to do the "football" player (PED) type workouts built on adding raw power & explosion Now a case like ZHOU QI can use ANY kind of weight from muscle or body fat. I don't see Capela as THAT spindly
I don't think he should add so much weight, even Lebron slimmed down because the excess weight can mean injuries down the line if you're someone running up and down the court.
He should stay at 250, but continue to get stronger and more stamina. He has a perfect modern NBA frame right now.
lol he took like 10 steps, I'm still laughing at that play. They should have called jump or travel. But I love the hustle.
Refs probably went with that he didn't have complete possession, then he did one dribble and scored on two steps. Can't travel without complete possession of the ball.
Yea, I was half joking. It just looks so awkward on replay. Wasn't that obvious live. It was probably just 4 steps too even if he had possession. Refs have done far worse in allowing travels.
Think about that for a second. How many NBA players lie and think about their weight the way women do? If Capela weighs in at 250 given his physique how much does Ryan Anderson, Nene, and Harrell really weigh?
