Al Gore did absolutely concede and support Bush winning. I don't know why you think he didn't. http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/algore2000concessionspeech.html Only if there is enough cheating to change the result of the election. [/QUOTE]
Holy crap there are still idiots that think that an election can be rigged? Are these the same people that think we didn't land on the moon? Or that the government perfectly orchestrated 9/11? Unbelievable the lengths people will go to defend something that isn't worth defending.
Not the Onion: Donald walks back his statement from last night “I want to make a major announcement today,” he told supporters at a rally in Delaware, Ohio. “I would like to promise and pledge to all of my voters and supporters and to all of the people of the United States that I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election if I win.”
White was the color of Suffragettes. Historical and symbolic nod to the women who fought for the right to vote. Just by wearing that pantsuit she showed more knowledge of history than Trump.
Which, just as everything Trump, his spokespeople, his supporters says is completely wrong: http://www.americanrhetoric.com/speeches/algore2000concessionspeech.html
I know you said Not the Onion but I still thought it was Onionesque until I saw the real news reports. Wow. Landslide coming folks. I'm starting to think the only question left is how far above 350 Hillary can get.
Even with your 'not the onion' preface, I was still not 100% certain because that's just too much trolling, even for Trump. So I had to look it up myself. http://www.politico.com/story/2016/10/donald-trump-accept-election-230098
I think it's supposed to be a joke or just something to get a big cheer. That said, if you really think the media is all out to get you, why would you say that? Why would you give them a quote that reinforces the narrative that you'll refuse to accept the results if you lose? Even if he didn't really mean it, that's an incredibly stupid thing to do. He did walk his comments back later in the speech but this is the soundbite that's going to get more attention.
Too much is being made of Trump not would concede. I mean, it's not too classy, and it'll probably add to the bad blood some Trumpists feel. But, it's not like he's going to call out the military and take power by force. He'll go rage in his corner while Clinton does the swearing in per normal. The only effective avenue he'd have would be to sue. But, that won't go anywhere at all without evidence of malfeasance. I can't even muster any outrage for Trump anymore. He's so unthinkable as a president in so many ways that when he does some new lamentable thing, it doesn't even matter.
My favorite Trump moment is how he has been all in on all these conspiracies (Birtherism, rigged election etc.) but the hacking has been proven to be Russian but he isn't willing to admit that lol. He's the best.
I think there are enough material out there for the next SNL skit on Trump to use nothing more than clips of real Trump.
