Not good. This is really hurting our trade talks. We've been trying to trade Bev all summer. The hope was he'd come to camp and look great so we could max his trade value. Another failed gamble. Now we're stuck with him for the foreseeable future. And the odds are even higher that Ariza (and Capela) gets moved.

Why? He was signed at a bargain to begin with, and now with the new cap his $6m salary is basically cap fodder.

he's habitually injured and even when on the court, his D has fallen off a cliff. to me he's nothing more than a backup PG at best, and those guys can be had very easily from the seemingly endless supply of players. would have much rather given bev's and brewer's money to a permanent starting PG. brewer's money -- another contract i hated :D

Has there been a less consistent Rockets player than Beverley over the last two years or so?

If you ask me he just needs to sit back and determine if he can get healthy enough to last through a season.

    Correct, he's a backup quality player making a backup's quality player's salary.

Now Brewer on the other hand... I'm 100% with you.

Me too. I wanted to sign and trade him then. I didn't like either him or Brewers contract and I thought Morey's excuse about continuity was a farce. And I wrote about it here. I wanted to let Brewer go or sign and trade him. And I wanted to sign and trade Bev.

Now we are most likely stuck with both contracts for another season and we'll most likely have to use Ariza, Capela, and one of Anderson/DMo as trade bait along with some of the youngsters.

I like Beverley enough for his character and as a 3&D guy, but it's always frustrating to watch a guy limited by nagging injuries. He needs to get his health sorted out.

I agree about Brewer, i don't really know why they resigned him...but about Beverley i'm not sure, the guy is great, i'm not a great fan of the player, i think he's just ok as a bench player, but i also think his contract is still pretty good, i'm pretty sure there're other guys with way worse contracts than him around the league but...yeah, all these injuries are not good, and i'm worried too about his value at this point...with that said, i'm ok if we have to move other guys, Ariza and Anderson on top, i think they're replaceable tbh.

Powerful argument for Bev you've got there. Other guys with worse contracts......wow.

Well, you said you didn't like his contract, which is a bit odd since it's objectively pretty good, a good bench player (or a borderline starter) in today's nba signs easily a double digit fully guaranted contract if not something over 14/15x, and it's not like the trend is going to change until Beverley's contract is over, or you think otherwise?

And btw what is your argument since you wanted him sign & traded but we don't even know for what we could've done that?

Getting annoyed with someone for injuries is hilarious.

Hope he gets back soon. At his contract, production and attitude, I'm happy to have him for 25 min/game and 60 games a season.

I want healthy Bev back. He is good for the team, and regardless of others opinions, he is a TOUGH player. His role should be different this year than those in past, but thats ok. As long as he is a team player, come back healthy!
