Related. These societies still have a way to go and need to grow up.

    http://hbv-awareness.com/statistics-data/

    5000 honour killings per year
1000 honour killings occur in India
1000 honour killings occur in Pakistan

"Honor killer" Father and 2 accomplices acquitted by themselves in court of law

Another situation highlighting the cowardly nature of Islamic society - even if it's not written in the Quran, no moderates have the courage to speak up and take action against the guys murdering and killing in the name of Allah. Muslim when it suits them, not muslim when it doesn't.

Yes, a muslim cultural issue -

A muslim issue of not speaking up against barbaric acts committed in their own communities. Always looking the other way when unspeakable crimes happen next door, and never taking accountability for unjust violence.

In a country where 98% of the population is muslim and the other 2% is undecided because they're goat human lovechilds -- this is somehow a Christian issue as well, according to the Arab exiled.

If you actually read the article, you would know that this backwards law has been recently repealed so that this won't happen again in the future. Not every country starts off first-world and progressive. Be thankful that you were born and raised in America, rather than casting aspersions and an air of superiority over a socially and economically struggling country.

And yet . . . it just happened.

The whole point is it doesn't matter what the actual laws are in Pakistan - Islamic reasoning and mullahs ultimately affect the outcome and sad stories such as this.

Pakistan isn't the only developing nation in the world - but it is the worst outside of subsaharan Africa due to it's inability to progress past archaic Islam based reasonings such as this.

If you "love" your home country, take the initiative to take this story to your local Pakistani mosque and talk about how wrong and unacceptable it is. How it has nothing to do with Quran and you cannot use Allah's name when it suits you. The actions of your community reflect who you are - that understanding is how developed nations came to be. Otherwise, passively letting these stories happen makes you a part of the problem.

I don't go to the mosque, but I know topics such as this (how wrong and unacceptable it is) are routinely discussed. But how is that going to help what's going on in Pakistan? Pakistanis in a Sugar Land mosque are a much different demographic than Pakistanis in a rural Pakistani mosque. That's what I don't get about the whole "moderates need to speak out against this!" point of view.

I had a cab driver from Pakistan in Silicon Valley who said he supported the killing of that governor who spoke out against the Apostasy laws in Pakistan. People don't really shed their beliefs when they move from one place to another.

These violent beliefs and attitudes turn me off to any of the the ME religions. Hiding behind "regional" culture or tribalistic male privilege doesn't sugar coat it either.

Bit senseless and ironic to the idea of preserving family name. Apparently violent psychopath is more honorable than sexually permissible deviant.

I guess what I'm saying is that if other people are giving me **** for another family member, when given the choice of "culturally permissible" murder, I'd rather kill those **** talkers than my own family member.

    Backwards, I know...
